Hello, hope everyone's week is off to a great start.

Like some of the people here, I've got no experience in programming of any sort, but just wanted to start dabbling in some ideas running in my head.  With that said, I was about to go purchase RPG Maker MV, but when I was about to do so, a friend of a friend stated I should wait, because new versions come out almost every year, and that RPG Maker MV has already been out for awhile.  So I should wait a couple of more months and a new one will come out and I should buy that.

So I guess my question is, is that something I should do?  Wait a couple of months from now?  Or if I buy this on MV version and a new one comes out next month, is there some discount for buying the new version?  I see there are updates to MV as I read through the forums, but I'm scared if I buy this, then find out a month or two from now a new version comes out and then I'm bummed out that I would have to pay full price for the next major version.

Thanks everyone, I appreciate your help on this.

Hi and welcome! Unfortunately, your friend is misinformed. New engines only come out every few years. I think it was about 4 between Ace and MV.

Personally, I'd grab it right now, while it's on sale on Steam. In fact, it's 45% off right now.

Thank you for the quick reply, I appreciate it.

And that's what I wanted to make sure of.  He made it sound like I'd be making a mistake purchasing it now.

As for this steam version and the one sold here. I do see it on sale at steam and it's higher priced here.  So the follow up question someone is asking me to ask here is that if I make a game using the steam version, if people want to play it, do they have to have Steam to use the game I made?

Or would I be better off buying the one off the website here directly?

Sorry if these questions come off very dumb.

Nope, they would not have to have Steam. The game would deploy the same way it would on the desktop version of MV.

Hello! I would like to know if there are any pluggings or any way to customize how battles look?
I was thinking that when you start the battle for it to appear the eyes of your characters and opponents sorta like Ace Attorney.
Sadly I don't know how that would be possible so I would be needing help! If you can help me in any way I would really apreciate it!
