Hello, everyone. Nice to meet you all.

I have to admit, I've been hesitating to write up a proper introduction for myself due to the fact that I've been getting writer's block about it. I've been jamming up because I've been getting too worried about getting the post "just right". I figured I might as well just write something up as it comes to mind.

I've been playing videogames since I was little, and decided a few years ago that I'd like to make my own. There just aren't as many games made by videogame companies anymore that are designed primarily to be fun, as opposed to being money-making products, which seriously annoys me. I'd like there to be more games that are really fun, like what I remember, even if it means having to make them myself. This is one of the things that I'm happy to know is possible thanks to the increasing success of indie games.

Aside from that, I'm not sure what else to say at the moment about myself. I love space, which has proven to be a bit amusingly annoying, like when working on a story that's supposed to be fantasy but turns into a sci-fan. I used to go outside with my family when I was little and go stargazing. If my dad was along, he'd teach me about the various constellations. I remember I used to fixate on a couple in particular; the Big Dipper and Orion. Haven't seen as much of the former lately (not to mention stars at all), though, which I really miss. Even wanted to become an astronaut back when I was in grade school.

Some of my favorite videogames and series are Megaman (which got me started with videogames), the Tales of series, Ace Attorney, Knights of the Old Republic, Mass Effect, Final Fantasy, MechWarrior, Cave Story, Mischief Makers, and Minecraft. Just please don't ask me to name one favorite over others. I can't.

I'm looking forward to working with and seeing the work of people, and would love to be able to make games that are really fun to play. Already got a few projects running, which I've been doing a lot of world-building for.

Welcome SpaceManFive! You have excellent taste in games. Years ago, a young lady introduced me to Knights of the Old Republic, and the game was so good I married her. I'm currently playing Tales of Graces f and loving it.

Also, I know how you feel with regard to getting your post "just right". I get like that with every post, which is why I end up lurking most forums I join. I'm practicing being less perfectionist about it, but it's so difficult.

Nice to meet you! Thanks!

Interesting story of how you ended up marrying your wife. Hope things are going well for the two of you!

Love the choice, characters, and story in the Knights of the Old Republic games, although I also love the minigames they have in there. BioWare made a winner with Pazaak, although the swoop racing was really fun, too. Like the morality system as well, although BioWare could stand to mix it for a separately scaled "Good vs Evil + Paragon vs Renegade" system, since not all good actions are "nice" and not all "evil" actions are bad. (As shown with some choices in Star Wars: The Old Republic.) For "Tales of" games, I've been playing through the 3DS re-release of Tales of the Abyss and loving it. Really missed that series, since I first got started by playing Tales of Phantasia.

As for the perfectionism, it's still posing me a bit of a problem, as evidenced by my response time here. Sometimes it can feel more like a curse, while other times it can be more of a blessing when I can keep it in check and use it.

That's quite a nice introduction SpaceMan. Welcome buddy!
Thank you. Nice to meet you, too!

So far, so good on the marriage front! It'll be 7 years this summer.

I wholeheartedly agree with you on Bioware's morality scales. It's odd that they don't have two axes, since KotOR and NWN were both modeled after DnD 3/3.5, which had Good/Evil and Lawful/Chaotic. It might just tough to know what to do with them when you're dealing with a video game (I can see story mapping turning into a nightmare).

Well, definitely congratulations, then! Hope things continue to go well for you two!

As for the morality scales, from what I know of scripting for this engine, it should be as simple as having the scripts for the scales in place (getting the scripts is a whole other matter), and then plugging events into them with +/- changes to either of the scales. At least for me, it might be tedious, but not quite a nightmare.

Then again, I'm kinda used to building dialogue and story branches. Retrofitting something into an already built tree, however, might be something I could call a nightmare, or at least a major pain. Geez, that stuff can take a lot to get fully retrofitted. The trick for me is not having to add in any major pieces after building the trees.

so hopefully tomorrow i get to go home from the hospital i've been here for 5 days already and it's driving me mad. I miss my family like crazy but at least I get to use my own toiletries and my own clothes. My mom is coming to visit soon i can't wait to see her cause i miss her the most. :kaojoy:
Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD
