Hi everyone!
I've joined up as I'm making headway with a few little RPGs and puzzlers that I'm making with RPG Maker VX Ace. I bought the system about 4 years ago, made a couple of maps, and then let them lay dormant because I wasn't sure exactly what I was doing or where the games were going. Then, earlier this year, for some reason or another, I decided to open the system again to have a look at the games, and the maps I'd made weren't all that terrible at all, so it piqued my interest into doing more with them. I also developed a plan to organise building the games, which may take some time, but there's logic to it.
The first game that I'm nearly finished making is a bare-bones RPG Maker fare, using the system tilesets and sprites with some DLC material and character generated graphics only, so that I don't need to spend my time designing these (although I may have to draw a few myself where required), but can learn the process of how to make standard RPG Maker games by doing this. I've set the game in South America at the time of the Conquistadors, with one of them as the main character who goes exploring amongst Aztec ruins. I'd say I was about 3/4 or 2/3 of the way through, but I'm making fairly good progress now, and would like to have it finished by the end of this month (although it'll probably be slightly longer). The other two maps that I started earlier and am now adding to as I learn more about the system were a medieval game and a sci-fi/cyberpunk one. I'm developing these slowly as I go, with no strict deadlines, but hopefully the medieval one can come out next year sometime and the cyberpunk one the year after that. I want to design my own character graphics for the sci-fi game myself, so that's why that will take longer. It's ambitious, but I have a vision that I want to achieve, and I've already done a few trial sketches and sprites that work, so I think it's possible.
Anyway, pleased to meet you all and I'm looking forward to sharing my creative endeavours, and a few jokes, with you!
