Hi everyone! I'm actually really shy, so please be kind to me!

I tried to make a game a few years ago with Game Maker, but nothing came of that. I've set a goal to finish at least one game with RPGMaker. I'm pretty decent at drawing, so I'll probably be making at least half of my own battlers, maybe more depending on my needs. I have yet to get the hang of pixel art, it's so hard to see the big picture when you're so zoomed in Dx

It's so great that RPGMaker comes with it's own generators, so you can cover for your weaknesses. And this forum has so many resources and tutorials, it's amazing *A*

Welcome.  Shy or no shy, though, you will need to step up and ask questions if and when you have questions! :)

Welcome to the group!

Another program you should look into for making character sprites is "Game Character Hub", it is really helpful for generating sprites from existing parts(like in MV's built-in generator but with more parts) or making them completely from scratch(pixel-art).

@Cadh20000 Ooh, thanks a lot for the info, that program looks really useful.
From what I have seen people either love it or hate it, few, if any, are on the fence about it.

You have the ability to add your own parts to its database as well if you come up with any you particularly like.

@Cadh20000 I downloaded it, and I really like it. It doesn't seem to offer anything new with the generator, but it makes editing sprites super easy. I can understand how a lot of people would be disappointed with it though.

Thanks again! :D

It has some parts in it that the built-in generator doesn't, or at least didn't at the time I got it. Mostly though the other parts are for other styles of sprites(it isn't restricted to just the one MV or VXAce uses).

Hm. I'm curious why that is. What were you trying to accomplish, if you don't mind me asking?

And Welcome to the forums! (I'm new myself!) :)

Oh I was trying to make a pokemon game from scratch haha. I had absolutely no idea what I was doing, and my interest in it just kinda fizzled out. A couple months ago I got the urge to make a game again, and I was going to download Game Maker again until I found out about RPGMaker. RPGMaker is definitely an easier program to use, as it comes with it's own resources. I don't remember Game Maker having that.  I have a much more solid idea of what I want to do this time around though, so I think I'll actually finish the game I'm working on atm.

The right tools for the right job. I'm currently using GM:S to make a platformer, building up my codebase, but I was frustrated with the forums. It's a trollercoaster there! xD

I haven't used RPM since it was on the PSX (and I gave up on it - I loved Fighter Maker, however!) RMMV is probably the best/worst for me. The best, because it's pretty rapid development and is really design focused. The worst because I'm used to straight coding. So, I feel like I have to unlearn what I'm used to! But, I find these to be really great forums, the peeps here are helpful, and I think we both made an excellent choice in coming here! :) I'm doing more with MV than with C right now, and it's all good! Right?

it comes with it's own resources. I don't remember Game Maker having that.
It comes with a sprite editor. Still useful in that capacity at times! ;D But I miss the Overmars days. And I hate Mike. He's such a butthole on twitter! If you don't know what I'm talking about... it's best you don't know! Welcome aboard! :)

I tried to learn Ruby a couple weeks back, but it got too confusing, so I decided to focus on learning the actual program before tweaking it. I know enough to understand what's going on in a script for the most part, but that's it.

I wasn't expecting the forums to be so resourceful, that was a pleasant surprise  :D

Thanks!

so hopefully tomorrow i get to go home from the hospital i've been here for 5 days already and it's driving me mad. I miss my family like crazy but at least I get to use my own toiletries and my own clothes. My mom is coming to visit soon i can't wait to see her cause i miss her the most. :kaojoy:
Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD
