Hi, all. You guys can call me Kay. I'm really new to any type of game-making, so please bear with me as I post (probably) really stupid questions. So far, I am creating a game with RMMV for my boyfriend. It's going to be more of like a story/relationship building/I don't know what kind of game, so, yeah. That's where I'm at right now. I've downloaded a bunch of Plugins from Yanfly which have already polished my 2-minute-long game tremendously, and I've also saved a bunch of tile sets and sprites, etc. from Avery, which are also really cool. I am having a bit of trouble with these sprites, but I'm not sure what the problem is, so I'm not really sure how to get help for it either haha.

The game, so far, pretty much has the opening scene and then a town and my boyfriend's house. It's really lame, and I'll probably change it, but the opening scene is basically like my character hears something she shouldn't and then gets taken and then my boyfriend is the main character you play as, and he has to figure out I'm missing and save me.

So, if anybody has any tips/suggestions for me, they'd be greatly appreciated since I'm pretty stuck trying to figure out the actual story line.

For the single sprites, but a $ at the beginning, like "$frog.png".

Thank you! What about for sprites that are animations? Like the grid is 4x4 instead of 3x4.

Welcome to the forums! Sounds like a great idea to start with. Your audience is severely limited when just starting out so developing a game for your boyfriend is kinda perfect. As far as the story goes, I'm not sure I can help out much on that front. Try to keep it personal and remember that he's your target audience and I'm sure he'll really enjoy it. Don't worry about asking "stupid" questions. We're here to help each other out and we all were just starting out at one point in time. Take care and good luck with your game.

Just beat the last of us 2 last night and starting jedi: fallen order right now, both use unreal engine & when I say i knew 80% of jedi's buttons right away because they were the same buttons as TLOU2 its ridiculous, even the same narrow hallway crawl and barely-made-it jump they do. Unreal Engine is just big budget RPG Maker the way they make games nearly identical at its core lol.
