Hello! My names JohnSpy. I'm new to RPG maker! I recently found that RPG Maker MV was on sale so I picked it up.
I wanna make a Earthbound Styled game but i think im gonna start with something small. What RPG Maker is your favorite?

Hello JohnSpy, welcome on forum. I prefer MV or MZ (they are similar), because it's the newest and have the best posibilities.

If it weren't for three fairly big issues, I'd say XP absolutely. But, honestly, I like them all (well, maybe not VX, and I guess it has been quite a long time since I used 95), I just use MV both because I love the damage formula and it has native linux accessibility.

I still remember how awesome it was when rpg makers were officially translated. RM2k especially, the Steam version got neat QoL updates.

On the note of an Earthbound style game, you could probably make a short version of that as your first one, something like a single town and dungeon thing just to get some experience with the system.

Translating the help file for RPG-Advocate's rm2k3 localisation patch was fun. XD

I'm weird as there are a few game franchises I'll watch and read about, but have no interest in playing.
Humans have such a capacity to assign personalities and love to objects. We do this because we love them. It's interesting then that our fears over AI are that they won't love us back and will instead hate us.
I'm actively looking for people who want to recreate classical compositions in the public domain for RPG Maker games. I've got a whole kick going on of looking for several resources from anyone which would be sharable amongst commercial games. This latest pursuit is something I'm surprised no one else has started doing.
I played Deltarune chapter 2 today! It was great. No spoilers, but I hope one day I can design a world as interesting as Toby Fox and team.
