A: Disregard this, just something I played with
B: Game over, you can decide how to end the scene if the monster catches you
C: This makes the stepping motion faster, and with highest the event moves WAY too fast so you wanna tinker with that setting
D: Approaches the character, I'm sure you got that down

I don't know if you want the monster to be on top of the player, I made my event so the "bad guy" touches the player on the side, let me know if my method works for you and if not I'll look into it!
