Hey there guys I'm a new RPG MAKER here currently using MV, Hi. Lol

So I've searched n looked for variety of questions n answers amongst other things although I've picked up how to use RPG maker (pretty well to a certain extent) I seem to still b having trouble in a few aspects of the game such as assets, legal stuff, changing things etc.

I was wondering if anyone on here would have any spare time later today to maybe talk 1 on 1 who might have a bit of experience and clear things up for me as each question comes to mind for this program?

Current questions on my mind? I read something of RTP, It said stay away from using RTP (which I assume is default tilesets n art etc of RPG maker) if releasing to Android etc.... Would this mean I have to download complete new assets completely?

Assets.... So many people make plenty of material (although still hard to find) some I have figured out how to use and some not so much.... Lol many things such as facial artwork, tilesets artwork complete different look compared to what RPG maker provides still seem to have trouble around this loop hole of installing etc..(i also understand many say free just include credits etc)

Some popular plug ins: I can't remember the name of the person but he's vastly popular providing many plugins n assets etc but some as hard as I try to understand (some) can't seem to Figure out how to use, I don't mean to sound "so noob" but it's just true Hahaha xD

Wondering if anyone had any real time to help a noob out thank you :)

1) Most people would say stay away from RTP because a lot of people would shy away from your game when they see RTP stuff in it, because of a lot of games made with the RTP that were released in a whim.

3) Its probably Yanfly.. I say learn more about the engine first before even trying to use plugins...

That's the site that will have all of the Yanfly plugins, links to each for descriptions and even videos of how they work. Take a look through them, there's a lot of good stuff there, especially accessible for new users, in my opinion.

As far as resources, worry about making a few practice games, first. Small stuff, but actually make sure you have ideas before you go looking for resources. Find out what you need by really knowing what kind of game you want.

Otherwise you'll be trying to make games based off of what you can find. Worry about not having RTP later, treat it like placeholder graphics for now.

I agree with standard here, worry about getting to know the engine first via trying things out rather than thinking too much of the assets and plugins right now... There are a lot of free and paid assets in here, there are also people who you can commission when the time (and funds) for it comes.

Basically, check each and every part of the engine and try a lot of things out... See what you can do with the database objects and the event system.

Try to find a post by Andar, I think he has a link to a very good beginner tutorial in his signature... You can also look at tutorial vids on youtube, there's a lot of those.

Thx for the info I've got most of yanflys plug ins the ones I wanted, some in unsure how to access, I've currently spent about 40 hours making a game on it already thought out a good story etc etc all that but think assets such as different scheme would be better but not sure where to find or implement it events are getting easier and easier to do

If I had to b honest I'm still blind and duno how to implement variables n there's a few Things I haven't touched such as loop but apart from that I kinda know what I want and on the run to doing it making it a basic rpg such as FF but don't want it looking basic with the tileset or art scheme(character faces etc) provided by the maker

But I will Be playing with it alot more as it develops and continuously researching more tools n such as I go, just seeing if anyone had spare time or kind enough to do a 1 on 1 with anyone experienced with it n such :)

Its way easier to change art or music midway or even before release than changing gameplay etc... So just focus on the gameplay and story right now, use RTP as placeholder and look for the resources when you have time, then change on the go.

Also look out for sales here and on steam.

@Cqualt I noticed that you use a lot of abbreviations in your posts e.g. just b for be. Please be aware that this is an international site with many people having English as their second, third or even fourth language. Please use standard English to make it easier for them to read what you write.
Thanks

so long as you put effort into sprucing things up a bit (for example, fog effects), i wouldn't worry too much about using the RTP. there are several games out there made with the RTP that still look fantastic, and are quite well received! if you can't find anything to your liking for free, and don't have the money to purchase premium tiles, then the RTP is still fine.

The reason people don't like the RTP is, well, it's pretty recognizable, and like, every low effort rpgmaker game uses it, because it's there, and changing it requires at least some effort.
So even if your game is amazing, people seeing the rtp might assume it's bad and skip over it because it looks just like so many bad games.

I assume youre thinking of yanflys plugins. He has instructions on the pages of all his plugins, as well as in the plugin documentation thing once you look at them in the engine. Some plugins are pretty advanced though. Like, might need programming skills advanced. I'd recommend using as few plugins as possible, and slowly adding them in and learning how they work.

Our latest feature is an interview with... me?!

People4_2 (Capelet off and on) added!

Just beat the last of us 2 last night and starting jedi: fallen order right now, both use unreal engine & when I say i knew 80% of jedi's buttons right away because they were the same buttons as TLOU2 its ridiculous, even the same narrow hallway crawl and barely-made-it jump they do. Unreal Engine is just big budget RPG Maker the way they make games nearly identical at its core lol.
Can someone recommend some fun story-heavy RPGs to me? Coming up with good gameplay is a nightmare! I was thinking of making some gameplay platforming-based, but that doesn't work well in RPG form*. I also was thinking of removing battles, but that would be too much like OneShot. I don't even know how to make good puzzles!
one bad plugin combo later and one of my followers is moonwalking off the screen on his own... I didn't even more yet on the new map lol.
