So, I had playtested the game with the Xbox One, Xbox 360 gamepads and Nintendo Switch Joy-Con. After some time, I just realized it worked well and I could keep using the keyboard, since it's more comfortable for me.
Then, recently, I've tried to use the Xbox One gamepad, but it simply didn't work. I thought it was a problem with my computer and was too lazy to find a fix. But now that I've sent my game to Steamworks, they told me the Xbox gamepad isn't working at all.
Then I made some tests, and here are the results:

- The Nintendo Switch Joy-Con is working, even though the analog directional doesn't work
- The Xbox Controller is not working even in blank projects
- Everytime I open my game (or any RPG Maker project), no matter where I do it (playtest, released, on steam), a nw.js window opens, showing me a message in portuguese that says "there has been an error opening your profile. Your profile can't be used because it's from a more recent version of NW.js. Some resources may not be available. Specify another profile directory or use a more recent version of NW.js." (however, the game still works). There are no console errors on blank projects.
- Installing the Gamepad Config plugin didn't change a thing.

I'm completely lost and don't know what to do. Since I make daily changes to my project, I don't know what might have caused it, since MV has a native controller support. I can provide any necessary information, I just need it to start working again.

I've just tried verifying MV's files integrity and they were fine

Hi there!
Based on your first message, we can try something.
You have upgraded the Nwjs?
Because this message has appeared for me when I do that first time. But I only upgraded the test files, not the release ones.
So your game is identifying that you have a different version of nwjs.
There are some topics here in the forum about that.
Not sure if it is the source of the problem, but you can give it a try.

How to upgrade nwjs- https://forums.rpgmakerweb.com/inde...upgrade-nwjs-and-chromium-67-68-64bits.96908/

How to fix the profile problem - https://forums.rpgmakerweb.com/inde...urred-during-playtest-game-play-nw-js.103824/

You can fix the problem or you can upgrade everything to the latest version of nwjs, both in the playtest as in the release version.

Thanks for it, but it doesn't solve the problem. Actually, after I update it, I can't playtest anymore, even though I have the last mv version. Also, I need to update it in the deployed project's folder too, and it won't allow me to use the controller either.

Also, now that I've tried the fix, it also won't allow me to playtest, and I also forgot to close mv before trying it, AND I didn't backup before.

I still can't playtest. It seems like everything is getting worse, I'd really appreciate some help

@ZoeZero It seems that you have tried a lot of things.
Still, I don't know the source of the problem. And I will make it very clear: I don't know if the tries below will solve your problem, try at your own risk.

The gamepad has to work by default. Do you are using any plugins in the project?
Did you try with a clean project?

So first of all, let's make a clean installation.
Uninstall RM MV.
After that, close the steam client. (CLOSE not UNINSTALL).
So follow these steps:
  1. Go to your app data folder in Windows (C:\Users\[Your Username]\AppData\Local). If you can't find it, make sure you can see hidden folders.
  2. Delete the folder "nwjs".
  3. Go inside the folder 'User Data". Then go inside the folder "Default". Look for the files "Web Data" and "Web Data-journal". Delete these two files.
  4. Launch MV and playtest
So, reboot your computer, and install Rm Mv again.
See if the controls are working or if you are receiving the "profile" message.
If controls are working, ok!

If not, and you have received the profile message, try to update the test version and release version of mv with the latest NW, only if you have received the message about the "profile" thing. (ALTHOUGH, it's not a requirement for the gamepad works. It has to work without the updates of NW. But, in case you can get rid of the profile messages, I think we have to upgrade the versions to get rid of it...).

Remember, for the update you have to put the new NWjs in the two folders:
nwjs-win & nwjs-win-test

I hope it helps. If it doenst work, I don't know what else we can try to make it work =/

I have tried those steps, but without closing Steam. I can no longer playtest, it just doesn't open, although it's in the task manager.
I'll try formatting my hard drive.

I have tried those steps, but without closing Steam.
There is one step that hasn't been mentioned here, and you should do that before formatting:

Please go to steam help and use it to clear the steam download cache.

In my experience the steam download cache gets damaged about once per year or so, and after that happens the "verify file integrity" and "reinstall" no longer works - without any error messages from steam.
With a damaged download cache you get messages that file integrity is OK and that reinstallation is complete, without anything being repaired or installed at all.

So clear steam download cache, restart the computer and then deinstall and reinstall through steam again.
Sometimes that is enough, and it's easier than a complete windows reinstall.

I appreciate the reply, but I had already formatted when I saw it.
Formatting and re-downloading RPG Maker seems to have worked. I sent the game to Steam again and they didn't say the controller still wasn't working. And it's working for me now too.
I still face the nwjs version problem, but since it doesn't cause any errors, I'll just live with it.
Therefore, I think this thread may be closed.
Thank you all for the help! :)

Yay, now back in action Happy Christmas time, coming back!

Back in action to develop the indie game that has been long overdue... Final Fallacy. A game that keeps on giving! The development never ends as the developer thinks to be the smart cookie by coming back and beginning by saying... "Oh bother, this indie game has been long overdue..." How could one resist such? No-one c
So I was playing with filters and this looked interesting...

Versus the normal look...

Kind of gives a very different feel. :LZSexcite:
To whom ever person or persons who re-did the DS/DS+ asset packs for MV (as in, they are all 48x48, and not just x2 the pixel scale) .... THANK-YOU!!!!!!!!! XwwwwX
