One thing that stood out to me is you used the generator to make a map for your trailer. Most people on steam can tell when the generator was used, and tend to view games negatively that do that. You may wish to remap that one map, and any other map that was done that way.

And speaking of mapping, I'm not sure if it is just me, but your maps appear too open, especially your houses. Maybe shrink those down some?

yes they are too big and lack detailes, i noticed that too but i thought there is a reason behind it since all of them were that way...

If only people stop creating videos with a huge www.bandicam.com watermark on it. No offense, but nothing screams amateur more than having that on the screen. Try to register is somehow, or find a video capture software which doesn't have watermark.

On the positive side, those character portraits look very nice, kudos for that.

Not to hop on the 'not ready for steam' bandwagon, but the maps do look empty and repetitive. Some of the monsters are facing the wrong way and calling all the cure items anti-something seems uncreative.

Being honest, this game is quite lacking. I't too much default: default windowskin, default fonts, default icons, default battle, even the plugins are as default as they can be. (This is something that amuses me, YF do offer a lot of customization options but people simply don't use them and let everything as default as possible).

The only non-default things are the potraits and some enemies. With a budget of more than 400$ you got on kickstarter, you really needed to show something better than this 'all default' game.

If you really want to pass greenlight you will need to improve this a lot. Otherwise it will just bait all the RM Haters on steam (and not without a reason).

Hi! Well, first of all , congrats for finishing a project!
Now I'll try to be as constructive as possible to help you improve your game, because it really needs improvement. ....I don't mind the default UI (even though with 400$ budget I would personally have hired someone to make me something looking good). My main griefs are :

- The mapping is super plain. It reminds me of my first games. You need to work on it, check some successful rpg maker games and some tutorials on how to do this right.

- You managed to mix VX battlers done for front view on a side view battle system. Even without 400$ budget I would have deemed it unacceptable for a commercial project because you have tons of ressources available, even for commercial use.
- The writing needs some work imho. From what I saw in your trailers , it looks really bland and generic.

- Too many generic settings (the transparent soil with the "dark space" parallax + mysterious hooded guy / fairy / angel must have been used by a good half if not more of rpg maker games with a fantasy setting).

Also some maps look to have been generated automatically. Here again, for a commercial game, it's unacceptable.

I know getting so much backlash burns a lot, I went through that, but if you take into account relevant criticisms (and so far I saw nothing irrelevant here) and work on it, you'll see your reviews improve a lot much faster than you expect! :)

If you have questions, don't hesitate to ask me. This said, best of luck with your project and I hope to see you back with something that will be awesome! Don't give up!
Also : congrats for the artworks they're really nice :).

I have never finished a RPG Maker game yet so I'm not able to say what's wrong or right here. But what I would like to say, you have opened this thread to promote your game, but you hadn't the time to check the words on your topic or post? Was the first I had seen and I had asked me, what the hell is "grenlit"?

Don't get me wrong, I'm making tons of mistakes like this every day, but this is the figurehead of your game and you handn't the time to read your sentences twice? What should this say about the game behind? Just my 2 cents.

Thanks for all the feedback guys. Yes i did get 400$ on my kickstarter, and the budget is currently being used to get custom art and custom music for the game.

I also didn't realize the makers base tile sets would get such negative feed back. Most of the maps were drawn by me using the base titlesets and i made them a little more open because i didn't want to constrict the players movement to much and wanted to add some substance to the world. For the battler art i'm currently implementing aekashics art into the game and most of it is place holder until aekashic either puts out more content or i find something better, or have my own content made.

But, i did post this project in the development section and it was mostly ignored so i figured it would be alright to move ahead as schedule. if i had gotten this kind of feed back there i would have waited to put it up on greenlight.

Thanks taking the time to bring these issues to light i will need to look into them. I don't mind getting negative feedback that just means there's room for improvement.

That's a good approach to it. Just remember there's always something to take from all kind of feedback. My first post of my project for the IGMC went 3 for 6 (50%) on ratings on feedback (3 liked it, 3 disliked it), which would be a mixed on steam. The trick is to take away and fix what can be fixed, and to ignore the trolls while you are at it.

As for the maps (which I was the one who brought that up), there's nothing wrong with leaving them open if you plan to add to them later on. Just be careful that your room doesn't look like it is 60 feet x 60 feet, which is a common mistake. If you are trying to emulate most houses, a 4 x 4 tile bedroom is probably best (and maybe even 3 x 3), saving the larger ones for mansions and such.

But what I'd advise is to post the less open maps that look nice and detailed onto your steam greenlight page. Show off your best stuff! And also edit the generator made maps so they don't look generator-y. Nothing wrong with using them as a placeholder (I do it too), but at some point draw up your own. Maybe use scratch paper to sketch what you want, draw it into the game, post it on the maps and screenshots thread, and then fix it some more. Some of my best maps took 7 - 8 tries to get it right.

I think if you do this you can turn this around and still get it greenlight. Make some map edits, edit the trailer and screenshots to show of the best stuff, and go from there. Though I might drop the early access part of it, as that has a negative view these days (but treat that as my $0.02 on the subject, for all it is worth).

Don't forget, aspiring writers: Personality isn't what your characters do, it is WHY they do it.
Hello! I would like to know if there are any pluggings or any way to customize how battles look?
I was thinking that when you start the battle for it to appear the eyes of your characters and opponents sorta like Ace Attorney.
Sadly I don't know how that would be possible so I would be needing help! If you can help me in any way I would really apreciate it!
