Hi! Well, first of all , congrats for finishing a project!
Now I'll try to be as constructive as possible to help you improve your game, because it really needs improvement. ....I don't mind the default UI (even though with 400$ budget I would personally have hired someone to make me something looking good). My main griefs are :
- The mapping is super plain. It reminds me of my first games. You need to work on it, check some successful rpg maker games and some tutorials on how to do this right.
- You managed to mix VX battlers done for front view on a side view battle system. Even without 400$ budget I would have deemed it unacceptable for a commercial project because you have tons of ressources available, even for commercial use.
- The writing needs some work imho. From what I saw in your trailers , it looks really bland and generic.
- Too many generic settings (the transparent soil with the "dark space" parallax + mysterious hooded guy / fairy / angel must have been used by a good half if not more of rpg maker games with a fantasy setting).
Also some maps look to have been generated automatically. Here again, for a commercial game, it's unacceptable.
I know getting so much backlash burns a lot, I went through that, but if you take into account relevant criticisms (and so far I saw nothing irrelevant here) and work on it, you'll see your reviews improve a lot much faster than you expect!
If you have questions, don't hesitate to ask me. This said, best of luck with your project and I hope to see you back with something that will be awesome!
Don't give up!
Also : congrats for the artworks they're really nice
