Help Needed RE: Activation

Hey all, just made an account to see if anyone can help here... I'll try to be brief yet descriptive.

So I downloaded and used the RMVXACE trial last month, got far in what I was making too, very happy with the software. I was notified today about the Halloween special in the online store, and jumped at the chance to buy Ace at a heavily discounted price. I bought it, and received confirmation of my purchase via email. One was a digital receipt, the other was supposedly my activation code. I will not type the code here, but I will convey the problem just the same without giving that away.

The code was 10 digits long. I wrote it down, and continued on to the expired trial version of Ace from last month. I clicked on Activate, and entered all the required information. It wouldn't take the code, and when I rolled-over the box with my mouse, it said the format must be XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX.

What am I missing?? They certainly never sent me a code that long. I quadruple-checked both emails from them. The only other thing they gave me was a download link, which I downloaded soon after. Upon download completion, it said something along the lines of "the file could not be verified".

So I'm at a loss. I messaged tech support, but I've done so in the past as well and did not hear back from them, so I'm turning to these forums. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Alright! Thank you. Yeah hopefully this is fixable, or I'm just doing something wrong/missing something.

what did you do after the download said file cannot be verified? did you actually tried to run that program?

but yeah, hopefully the staff will get to you soon... there's actually a thread here for activation problems and from what I saw, it seems like a lot of people are having trouble activating from the trial version... but the staff is quite fast to respond anyway so I think you'll get your fix by today...

Those problems should be in the past now, because they recently switched to a different activation method.
But that could be the cause of the problem, if the original trial was from before the switch and you need to redownload the version from after the changed activation, so I would deinstall the old trial, download the new version (might have been an data glitch from the provider) and reinstall the new version.


Otherwise, you have to wait until someone from Degica responds

adiktuzmiko, no, it didn't seem to give me that option. The file seemed corrupted or something, and wouldn't let me do anything with it. But thank you I appreciate your help.

Ah. I see. Well, to be quite honest, I'm not too computer savvy, and I'm afraid if I tried to delete my trial version I'd lose all progress in my game so far.... but that sounds like it could be the problem. If that is indeed the problem, I'm not too sure what to do seeing as how the download they sent me won't work.

If the reason for the error was an internet/provider glitch, then the same download link will work if tried a second time (even seconds later).

If the reason for the error was an error at degica, then the same download link will work again after it has been fixed (possibly reported by someone else)

If the reason for the error was something on your computer (like not enough HDD space free or a defective browser program), then the same download link will work after the problem on your computer has been solved, but Degica can do nothing to solve the issue on your computer.

However, to find out what was the case you have to test the download link again after several hours - have you done that yet?

If not, do so now and post the result here.

You can also try to download the trial again - if that also fails, then the chances are high that it's something on your computer.

Okay, I'm about to do that now. One question, if I re-download the trial version, do I have to uninstall my current trial version? And by doing so, will I lose my data on my game?

Data will not be lost upon uninstalling as long as you didn't do anything strange.

That is the reason why the default project path goes to "my documents", and why the default program files path is restricted by newer windows versions: uninstalling the program usually only deletes the program, not the data.

Only if you override that protection manually (which most people don't even know how to do) and place the project files into the program file path, you might stand a risk of having the data deleted...

And yes, it would be better to deinstall the old trial (by using windows' software controls, not by deleting files manually).

I just downloaded that file without any error - looks like the problem is on your computer.

Please try a different browser, or test if that message is only a warning instead of an error (view downloads and try to start the setup)

Alright. Unfortunately 'view downloads ' doesn't give me any setup or install options. I'll see if I can try a different browser though.

Otherwise, try a different browser.

I can also confirm that it is odd that your program requires a 20 digit registration key, where as my copy only required a 10 digit key, like the one supplied. Hope this helps!

Thank you so much! That solved the problem. I was able to install the file, it brought me to a new layout of the rpg maker menu than I had before, and worked with the current 10-digit key. Thanks everyone for your help!!
