Hi guys,

I'm trying to set an actor's skill type to TP permanently. As in - no MP whatsoever. Just TP (like how some of the characters in Lisa: The Painful only use TP.)

I cannot find out how to set this though - anyone know?

Thanks!

You want to remove the MP bar completely, or you simply want to have the actor use TP for certain skills instead of MP?
Because if it is the second one, you change that in the Database. Put MP to 0 cost and TP to x cost.

@Guiguimu Very helpful.

I believe that it is former, which is exactly how it would sound.

You need scripts to do this, and Yanfly has them.

You could try altering the syntax yourself, but it's very difficult for most people.

Please correct me if I am wrong but to me it sounds like the OP is looking for a way to both remove the MP bar for a certain actor and set every skill that actor uses to be TP-based instead of MP-based.

If that's what the OP wants to achieve there are still two options:

  • the actor is the only one able to use those skills;
  • the actor shares the ability to use those skills with other actors.
If we are talking about the 1st case then what @Guiguimu said is everything you need. If we are talking about the second case then you have to alter the code itself to 1) change your battle window graphic, 2) change the way the engine checks skills cost. Keep in mind that in this second case removing the MP bar won't be enough. There are at least other two methods I can think of that you have to edit to achieve that.

Thanks everyone!

Yeah, I want to remove the MP bar completely for a certain actor, and replace it with a TP bar.

So basically I need to change the battle window graphic so that the MP bar does not appear for this actor?

Is there a tutorial somewhere on how to do that?

You will need a couple of scripts for that, and I think Yanfly has what you need, like @Reapergurl and @Heirukichi both said.
Try Yanfly Ace Core Engine, Battle Engine, Party System and Menu Engine.

Then, simply put zero MP in the class of that char and have zero Magic Skills on him. I think this should work, but I never tested it.

Ok I found a similiar thread to this one where someone was having the same situation.

Correct me if I am wrong guys, but I hope this helps...
And Credit to Kes, because I added Party System to the list and some info because of him, and he knows waaay more than me.

I do not think yanfly scripts will remove the MP bar from the menu screen or character screen. I'm using Yanfly scripts and I don't have that (and could use it - maybe) The MP bar can be removed from displaying in battle by just not assigning any skill to that character that requires MP. If the character knows any skills that require MP then the bar will show up.
