Ok where to begin? That is the question.

So my game (which has a lot of scripts, any number of which could be the problem, or it could be completley unrelated to scripts) is now (seemingly) completley randomly freezing.
This, as far as I have observed, is only happening during battles.
It seems, however to be any time during a battle. It has happened after killing an enemy, and another time literally as I was selecting an option in the actor command window. (It froze before I could select an option)
Yes, the background music continues playing.

So the problem is: I don't even know where to start to try to find the culprit.

I have noticed that it appears to happen most often at the beginning of a new turn...this might be the first step.

Anyone--please--my game is completley ruined until this fixed. There is no way to unfreeze it.
And by freeze, I mean it stops allowing input and just stops doing anything, really. The app is still considered responding by task manager, I believe.

Thank you so much for your help.

You're problem sounds different than mine.  But the program used to freeze on me a lot.  It usually happened to me while I was in the editor though, and I would end up losing a lot of work which was frustrating.

I was able to fix it, or at least cut it way back - by removing extra devices from my computer and oddly enough by removing my virus protection.  I found it was especially bad when I was using older devices that were originally designed for older operating systems than the one I'm currently using.

I kind of doubt this will help, since what you describe has some significant differences then what I was experiencing.  But anyway, may be something just try and see.

Thanks for the tip! Actually I'm running Windows on a Mac, so my situation is really different :p but if my editor starts freezing up i will definitely remember this!

Does this happen in a new project?

If you suspect a script is the cause, you will need to disable all of them, ensure the problem doesn't happen, then enable them again one by one until the problem happens. The last script you enabled is likely the culprit. This would be easier if it wasn't a random freeze.

If you're using a number of battle scripts by different authors, they can sometimes have conflicts. You might try changing around the order of those scripts to see if you get different results.

This doesn't seem to happen in a new project. Is there an actual way to disable scripts or is it just, copy + paste the cdd somewhere else and delete it from the script editor? I will try your suggestions, thanks.

You can select the entire script and press Control+Q to disable/enable. That only causes a problem if the scripter has already used that to disable any part of the script (I sometimes do, when I'm testing, then I forget to remove it before publishing).

Otherwise, you can use TDS's Script Disabler

Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD
