Guuuuys!

I really need your help.

I don't know if It's just right to post this here, but I really need your help.

My Game.rpgproject file was corrupted and I have a lot of changes and revisions I need to do in my game.

It all started from the file being corrupted.
I was trying to back it up on my drive and an error popped up telling me there's some problem that keeps me from copying the file.

I remember it says something like, "Error 0x80070570 : The file or directory is corrupted", something like that.

So I looked up for solution in this issue. I found out about Scanning and Fixing the USB flash drive by Clicking the removable drive's Toproperties and clicking the Tools tab in it then  clicking 'Check Now'.

I thought it solved the problem, but it only made it worse by deleting the file itself. That Scan that I ran deleted the rpgproject file that was corrupted.

So I tried to recover the file with a recovery software and so I did.

I saved the recovered file on my pc's drive then when I tried to open the recovered rpgproject file,

This showed up.

It says, "Unable to read file Actors.json".

Help pls.

did you try, instead of using an external software and recovering the rpgproject file, creating a new one from a new project and putting it in its place?

because as far as I'm aware most of the info is kept in other files, not on this one. check if the error still happens with another one in its place.

That error simply means that more than one file was damaged - which isn't a surprise if you didn't disconnect an external drive correctly.

However, while the project file itself doesn't contain data and can be replaced without data loss from a new project, all other files contain game data, and most probably you'll have no choice but to replace it with a backup file, loosing the work done since your last backup.

As for external drives: you always have to tell windows to remove them (the tiny symbol next to the clock in the taskbar) and then wait until windows confirms that you can detach it before removing the cable connection. That is because windows caches data from external drives and needs some time to store that data - disconnecting the cable before that storing is complete will always corrupt all open files, and the RPG-Makers keep all their data files open while they're working on them.

So I hope you have a recent backup of your project - because any developer will always tell you that there is nothing more important than keeping backups of your work.

I'm sorry but I am quite unsure that I understand what you said completely, but as far as How I understand what you're saying is, I tried to make a new Game project (Opened MV and created a new game file) Then I copied the new RPGPROJECT file of that Newly created game then pasted it in the directory/folder of my Original Game, replacing the recovered corrupted rpgproj file in there.

But as soon as I load the new projectfile that replaced my recovered corrupted project file, The same error still pops up.

Then it is as Andar said. Unfortunately, there were more files corrupted.

@Andar , Fortunately, I have a recent backup. But this backup isn't as updated as the damaged game files.

But guess I just have to redo everything I did then.

Thank you guys for your help. :D

I strongly suggest that you start a new thread setting out exactly what happened - there may be some difference between you and the original poster which could be important. For example, do you remember which file it was gave you the original error? What had you been doing immediately prior to that?

so hopefully tomorrow i get to go home from the hospital i've been here for 5 days already and it's driving me mad. I miss my family like crazy but at least I get to use my own toiletries and my own clothes. My mom is coming to visit soon i can't wait to see her cause i miss her the most. :kaojoy:
Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD
