I am trying to make an edit to a default face so that instead of looking like a 15 year old, the character looks 60+ (or anyway, as old as I can manage).

It has not been a resounding success.  I cannot get the lines around her mouth - which not only add age, but also suggest a bit of bone structure - to look even halfway decent.

Can anyone help me out?  Suggest what I can do (I so need to learn how to do this properly) or even tweak it for me?

Here are the 'before' and the interim 'after' images.

    Thanks.

I'm definitely no artist, but maybe some lines on the forehead would help?

It already looks old enough to me.

But some more small wrinkles around the mouth, between the eyes and on the forehead might help. And instead of using grey to draw the wrinkles, use a shade of light brown to make it look more natural :)

The way that makeup artists add wrinkles to something is to have the actor make different faces and they just draw shadows where the face scrunches up. So look in a mirror, make some faces and get an idea of where the crinkles happen. Then you just emphasize the parts that would get a bit sunken in like the eyes and the cheeks. There's no need to deform the eyes or mouth. I also made the nose and ears bigger, apparently they don't ever stop growing.

Sharm - you are an absolute star!  If there's an RM Heaven, you have just booked your entry ticket.

    Thank you so much!
