Help running Rpg maker xp through Wine

Hello there, first time posting:


So, I wanted to use Rpg maker Xp to make a particular project, the problem is I have a Mac computer. After looking through the net for some way for it to work, I found this tutorial here. http://www.pokecommunity.com/showthread.php?t=327251 


After making sure the program is supported while using wine (I checked on their website and it is), I tried to follow the tutorial. However, they specify that you should have 2 different setup files to choose from, but I only have one .exe file that, when started through Wine, installs both the program and the RTP. However, that means I can't, to my knowledge, install the rtp and the program separately using winebottler as shown.


I tried installing it while only running wine and through creating an app using winebottler, like in the tutorial, but in both cases, when starting Rpg maker xp, it leads to a white and empty window, so I guess something's wrong here...


Now, my question is : will it be possible for me to make the program work through wine, or will I have to resort to other means (like installing windows directly on my computer)? Thank you for your answers!

If the installer is run with admin rights, it will extract and run the setup for the RTP automatically.


If the installer is run without admin rights, the RTP-setup gets extracted to a temporary folder, but can't be started automatically.


Two possible solutions to your problem (can't tell which because I don't know that tutorial or Wine):


1) make sure that the single setup is started with admin right on the wrapper


2) start it on a windows PC with an restricted user (letting the setup process for the RTP fail) and then search that computer for the place where the RTP-setup was extracted to.
