Hello RPG Maker community.

This is my first post, as I am brand new to the software/community. I've been hard at work on a game and while I certainly have lots of questions, things have been going pretty well. I've mainly been focusing on creating all of my assets as I am competent with that side of things and completely new to event making/scripting etc.

I've been trying to get a lot of the foundations for my game in order and one of those things is the menu. I've played around a lot with menu settings, and I have acquired a diverse collection of plugins, but I've been unable to really get the results I would like.

My goal is to have a menu that is relatively simple. My game has no combat in it, and focuses mainly on item interactions and story/puzzles. As such I would like for my menu to have the following options: Items, Books, Encyclopedia.  Ideally the layout would be one where when you select and item, there is a big "bust" style picture to go with it. Say a picture on the left and a description on the right. That kind of thing.

Unfortunately, I can't figure out how best to achieve this. I've tried my best to figure this out on my own, but I'm not sure the best approach. I don't mind putting in the grunt work to learn how to do it, my main question is what is the best approach to this? Do I need to learn how to work with Java? Or could I achieve something to this effect through a plugin that already exists? One that looks interesting but I've only scratched the surface with is SumRndmDde's common event menu plugin. It seems like it might be able to do what I'm looking for, but I haven't the slightest on how to achieve that.

Thank you for any help you are willing to provide, it is much appreciated.

I've moved this thread to JS Plugin Requests. Please be sure to post your threads in the correct forum next time. Thank you.

It's Javascript, and you're probably better off just getting someone to do it for you. What is your encyclopedia? Is it a plugin you already have?

If You want to make somethin easy, it's not so hard. I made my own menu for three days, and I didn't know nothing about java. You need to take a snippets from custom .js files (for menu You have to watch rpg_windows.js), or from others plugins (if You do it for Yourself only - You can,  ;)  - do not foget about credits) copy it to a new file and edit it. There is a template for a new file + example, how to do it:

And, of cource, You need to watch others plugins for example.

You can learn to make it yourself within a few weeks or so. You might be stepping back to learn the basics first, but you'd be much happier if you made it as your own because you know much more how it works. I watch these tutorials, and by far at least I understand a few things and made a small menu of my own.

Thanks so much for the help!

I'm really sorry, but I just realized I've made two posts. I posted the one late last night but didn't see it show up (think it was moved) but I didn't realize this as I was exhausted. I posted again this morning because I thought I had maybe not hit the post button. Anyway, you could delete this thread. If possible could I keep the other one open since I've put a mock up in it for added advice.  Thanks again/sorry again.

Just beat the last of us 2 last night and starting jedi: fallen order right now, both use unreal engine & when I say i knew 80% of jedi's buttons right away because they were the same buttons as TLOU2 its ridiculous, even the same narrow hallway crawl and barely-made-it jump they do. Unreal Engine is just big budget RPG Maker the way they make games nearly identical at its core lol.
