Hello folks, I'm here to beg for input on what font to use, as I'm totally lost after sorting through a great big ass pile of them and choosing all the acceptable ones OTL

Anytihng helps: name one or a few you like, or even just the ones that you DON'T so I can start discarding them.

Context: the game will be commercial, it's a fantasy setting (not exactly medieval, but a magic based alternate universe with most fantasy cliche's). THe story is not comedy or tragedy, more of an adventure with both serious and comedic moments. You know, typical stuff.

Above all, the font should be EASY TO READ, so if any of them feel akward please say so I can discard them.

(Font names are in the text line). Note: click on the image to view at full size!

Thanks for the help in advance m(_ _)m

Okay, here are my initial impressions: Serif, I like Bitter best, it seems to have nice "crisp" edges that help it to be more readable.

For non Serif fonts, I like Asul best in the way it looks, but For the Love "pops" a bit more to me - maybe it's a bit brighter? Not sure.

I personally find Volkhov as the best one, it's decent looking, easy to read and doesn't hurt my eyes at all.

Bitter is ok too, but not as easy to read.

The others are just...I don't really like them very much, and Onuava is ugly as hell.

What's wrong with Times New Roman? I usually use that, but since that's not there...

1) Bitter. I like sleek thin serif text the best, and I think it's a good comprimise with being thin enough to look good, and bright enough to easily read.

2)Asul. For ease of reading, this text is bright and wide without being huge like Onuava.

3)Linux Libertine, for darker text, this would be a nice alternative. I think this would look great if you wanted a more elegant or script-like look.

Hope that helps.

Bitter or Andada, the others just make my eyes hurt.

I like Aver, Brawler, Volkhov and Bitter the best.

For the love of hate seems a bit too comedy, and may look weird in serious moments. Onuava looks like a typewriter font, which I've only ever found fitting in detective-type games, lol. Qlassik Medium also strikes me as more of a decorative font; it's a bit 'showy' for regular use.

For everything else, I don't find much wrong with them, but the first three I named popped out to me most. Especially Aver.  :)

Have my rambling thoughts as I stared at them all:

Onuava is a big fat no for me.

Same with For the love of hate

their spacing looks awkward and for me that makes them a pain to read.

Aver is too big for my tastes.

Adamina looks rather squished

Linux Libertine, Volkhov, Qlassik Medium, and Arbutus Slab are my favourites.

Though Volkhov is a bit big and Qlassik Medium some people might find too small. and it's a bit fancy also Qlassik Medium is a horrible name.

I think Arbutus Slab is my personal favourite on the list here.

Actually looking at Volkhov again, strike it from my favourite list.

Whatever you do, not Onuava.

Arbutus Slab or Bitter

Personally I prefer Arbutus, but I think many people might find the slightly larger text of Bitter easier to read.

And as has been said, not Onuava under any circumstances.

Just beat the last of us 2 last night and starting jedi: fallen order right now, both use unreal engine & when I say i knew 80% of jedi's buttons right away because they were the same buttons as TLOU2 its ridiculous, even the same narrow hallway crawl and barely-made-it jump they do. Unreal Engine is just big budget RPG Maker the way they make games nearly identical at its core lol.
Can someone recommend some fun story-heavy RPGs to me? Coming up with good gameplay is a nightmare! I was thinking of making some gameplay platforming-based, but that doesn't work well in RPG form*. I also was thinking of removing battles, but that would be too much like OneShot. I don't even know how to make good puzzles!
one bad plugin combo later and one of my followers is moonwalking off the screen on his own... I didn't even more yet on the new map lol.
time for a new avatar :)
