So I have a game where there are dungeons that remain hidden and you cannot enter. But when you meet certain criteria, it reveals itself and allows you to enter.

I tried to set it so when a variable reaches or exceeds a certain number, the event reveals itself and lets you interact with it. Can someone help me with the script for this?

no need for a script.

make the transfer event that is the dungeon entrance conditioned to the variable, and it will only appear if the variable has a higher value than required.

or give hidden key items, and have the transfer event conditioned on the existance of the key item in inventory.

there are dozens of ways to handle this because that is exactly what the event conditions are for: to hide or disable events and event functions until the conditions are met.

That is much more elegant way to reveal and activate events! Thank you.

Now my only problem is how to increase the variable by which enemies I kill. I want to have the "cave" reveal itself once I've killed say 20 rats for example. I've tried creating a Battle Event that raises the variable whenever the rat is knocked out or goes to 0 or less HP. But I'm not doing it right, it doesn't seem to be revealing the cave event.

've tried creating a Battle Event that raises the variable whenever the rat is knocked out or goes to 0 or less HP.
the problem here is that the troop events are not executed after the last enemy is killed, the battle ends directly.
So if you have a troop with three rats and three troop events for each rat to count up on HP=0,then it will only count up twice and ignore the last case.

search around the forum, the solutions for this are either to use a temporary immortal state removed by the counter troop event to force the execution on HP=0 or to use a plugin that gives other troop conditions to trigger the troop events.

Thank you Andar. I managed to figure it out. My next step is to remove random battles from certain Ranges. but I'm thinking I'm going to need a plugin for that. it doesn't look like there's an in game way to change troops, or at least their weights.

Anyone have a suggestion for how to do that or a plug-in that might work for that?

Do you just mean from some areas on the map? You don't need a plugin for that. Just use regions to draw where you DO want the random battles to be, and set up your map properties to only list the troops against those regions. This is the whole purpose of regions in MV, before people started creating plugins to use them for other things.

However, that is a different question, so should have its own thread. If your original question has been answered, just report your first post and let the mods know, and they'll close the thread.

Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
