help with rtp package

okay so basically i just downloaded rpgmaker 2003 from steam today and i cant get the program to playtest anything. i dont know how the rtp package works and i dont understand how this works. I want to be able to playtest my game so i can get to making a game but yeah. anyways is the rtp package included with the game and im just stupid or

If you installed it on steam, it should be included and have no issues playing. Unless you're running a game made with an illegal rm2k/3 first then play it. The Official RTP has different names and stuff to be more consistent with the newer versions of RPG Maker.

Well I have issues and I'm not sure how to fix it. Where do I save my game path to? Might the RTP be in another folder on accident? I can play the game when it's in the steam folder in my system but I'm not sure to get the playtest to play the game otherwise. I ask because i save the game not in my steam folder, but another folder on my desktop.

Okay so I ended up getting it to work but I'd still like to know how to playtest the game outside the steam folder....

NEVER have a game or project inside the steam folder - that will risk its data.

The problem you have is that you can't use the official RTP on a game created with the pirated version.
You either need to convert the game project from the pirated version to the official version by opening the project in the official version and resaving (that requires the project files in addition to the game files), or you need to find and use the pirated RTP.

And no one on this board will help you with the pirated version or games created with it..
