I am curious as well, what are java scripters here charging usually for projects?

The prices depend on the scripter and on the project. Check Classifieds - Offers to see who's making themselves available, or you can post in Classifieds - Requests which might give you a different list of people.

One additional note:
The prices mentioned in the classifieds section are for exclusive scripts - if you don't want exclusivity, there are a lot of free community-made javascript plugins, and those scripters are also responding to free requests on this forum (especially if the request might be interesting to others)
