Hi! Has anyone been able to solve this MV interface glitch?

I checked out Steam yesterday and saw that RPG Maker MV was on sale, so I went and downloaded the trial today to test it out before I decide on buying it. Unfortunately, I've ran into this weird flickering grey line glitch that happens quite regularly when editing (example picture provided). I've read multiple posts about this glitch, but I guess I wanted to post my own thread to find some answers. Here are some of my laptop specs:

Edition: Windows 11 Home
Processor: 11th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i3-1125G4 @ 2.00GHz 2.00 GHz
RAM: 8.00 GB

One of my guesses seems to be that the glitch is a Windows 11 thing, as I've ran another trial on an older Windows 10 laptop some time ago and I don't remember having the glitch. But I'm pretty sure not every Windows 11 user out there runs into this problem, so it's more likely something more specific, with other threads listing stuff such as outdated drivers, compatibility with OpenGL, or (for users with Intel graphics like me) some stuff involving the Intel control panel/center.

I'd be willing to provide more details if neccessary. Thank you so much in advance for anyone who replies! =)

It's neither Windows nor MV, but the display driver.

There are two different things that can cause this:

1) a slightly wrong driver without full OpenGL support.
In this case you need to download the correct driver setup from the manufacturer's website and run that to install the correct driver.
You CANNOT use the internal Windows Update for the driver because Windows will use the wrong settings again if you do this.

2) If your computer has two display chips (as it is often done, one for 3D and one for 2D), then this can happen if the wrong chip is set as the primary for the editor.
That is one of the more advanced settings for Windows, and unfortunately I can't tell you where it is with Win11

I have this glitch on my PC and honestly I've just lived with it because it's a one second annoyance.

I'm the same as @AquaEcho. It's so quick and it's gone, it just doesn't bother me enough to spend actual time poking at my drivers or GPU configuration.

Plus, it happens infrequently, so I wouldn't necessarily know whether I fixed it or not until I'd been using MV for, like, a few days and nothing flickers.

Count me in as the same as those two. It happens a fair amount, but as it doesn't stick on my screen or hinder my development process in any way, I just live with it.

@ATT_Turan Windows 11. I had no such issues on my old Windows 10 laptop. Little weird, but nothing deal-breaking.

I think it has something to do with the allocation of memory to video. I use a laptop. Sometimes I notice it getting steadily worse, until I close and re-open MV. It's never really affected my workflow much, though. It's just an annoyance.

Thanks for the tips! I notice you've also helped users in other threads with this issue, so I would like to show my appreciation for that. =)

I've attached a picture of the graphics settings of Windows 11 that allow changing of the GPU that RPG Maker MV uses- I assume this is what your second tip is referring to. If not, I guess I'll continue to look around for more settings that involve MV's interface.

yes, that looks like it is - but you'll have to try out both options other than the let windows decide, because I don't know which one is the correct one here - I never had the problem myself.

I tried both out and still had the glitch, unfortunately. It does make sense since they seem to just be the same, both Intel HD Graphics. I also tried rolling back the Intel graphics drivers to its oldest version in Device Manager, to no effect. I'll see if installing other drivers from the Intel website changes things.

Did you find a fix? this is highly annoying to have a brand new Hp just to have to see this glitch. going to try find manufacturers display updates now... p.s. this didnt happen on an Asus gaming laptop... which just overheats though... so there`s that. :(

So the concept for my Game Jam project is way more than I can complete before the deadline. But I think I found a way to get the core done and make the incomplete parts either not really noticeable or make them a part of the story for now. That sneaky, dastardly Krampus! Then I can complete the rest. Did I mention that this is fun?
I've been working on a game called "Eternal Sunset". Is there anywhere here i can "show it off" maybe? Wondering what others think.
