RPG Maker Forums

Hello there! :yhappy:

I'm Kourtnie, a part-time community college teacher who's working in RMMV.

In high school, I built a game in RPG Maker 2000, then sold it on black-backed CDs. My computer had AOL. I walked uphill both ways. Then in undergrad, I played around with VX, but I never finished my second project. I also like Fes—except, the Etrian series usually consumes my portable gaming time—so I'm "in progress" in that RM...indefinitely.

I've visited these forums several times, but I haven't introduced myself yet.

Then a question hit me.

So I teach rhetoric and fallacious reasoning, and I've been wondering: Am I the only one who tries to determine if real-life things are operating on switches or variables? :yswt: It's interesting to think of things in this lens because switches are dichotomies and variables are spectrums. :ywink: This means, if switch logic is being applied to a variable problem, a false dichotomy is likely present.

Anyway, that's a window into how my mind works.

It's nice to meet everyone!

Just beat the last of us 2 last night and starting jedi: fallen order right now, both use unreal engine & when I say i knew 80% of jedi's buttons right away because they were the same buttons as TLOU2 its ridiculous, even the same narrow hallway crawl and barely-made-it jump they do. Unreal Engine is just big budget RPG Maker the way they make games nearly identical at its core lol.
Can someone recommend some fun story-heavy RPGs to me? Coming up with good gameplay is a nightmare! I was thinking of making some gameplay platforming-based, but that doesn't work well in RPG form*. I also was thinking of removing battles, but that would be too much like OneShot. I don't even know how to make good puzzles!
one bad plugin combo later and one of my followers is moonwalking off the screen on his own... I didn't even more yet on the new map lol.
time for a new avatar :)
