Hello there, my gamer tag name is Eilios. I figured, even though I've posted there here for a couple weeks now, I'd go ahead and introduce myself!
I've been programming in some kind of language for about 13 years now. I started with HTML, then moved to learning for a game engine that was very similar to C and Java. I played and scripted on that game (it's an online game, Graal if you've ever heard of it, where you can make your own server and it plays like it's own game) for most of my learning time. Eventually I went to college, took programming classes, got my associates, and have since got married and have 2 children, boys, and a daughter on the way this month some time.
My current job is more of a paper pusher at a manufacturing plant. Me and my brother finally got serious about making a game late this year and started SpireBloom Studios, and are working on our first game Spark of Destiny: Thy Kingdom Come. He's been doing 2D graphics for about as long as I've been programming, and he also does drafting for a plant so he can do some 3D as well.
I've been more of an "MMO" guy the past few years, and played tons of them. From FFXI to Aion to Tera to FFXIV and Archeage, and a ton in between all that. I'm an old school RPG fan (because that's what I grew up to) and love Star Ocean: The Second Story, Grandia, Saga Frontier 2, and of course FFVII, among many others. I'm really not into a lot of the new RPGs. It seems they tend to cut game play and world maps for faster pace crappy stories, but that's just my opinion.
I'm hoping we get a good start here with RPG Maker MV. It definitely lightens the load to getting a game out, at least so far, and we figured 2D was not only what we wanted to do first, but was a good entry point into the game making world. With our experience in creating servers (really, a game in the sense of it) from our previous work, I think we got a pretty good idea of what to expect and where to go!
For those who care, our Facebook page is in my signature. Check it out and see our progress, we're just starting to get stuff out a little here and there.
See ya on the forums (or our Facebook page
)!
