Hey there

My name is Ray, I had an imported copy of the PSX RPG maker as a kid, and have loved the software for years.

I'm a recently established wargame designer (Rostov 41 for Multi Man Publishing) and designed a Pen & Paper rpg years ago called 'Everything is Dolphins' that was a minor cult success, should show up if you google it lol. (Picture for my profile is for an upcoming game on a battle from the Franco Prussian War).

Anyway, I've always wanted to create a video game. JRPGs were indeed my first favorite games, Super Mario RPG and Final Fantasy Tactics changing my life at a young age (was born in 87, grew up during the golden age of JRPGs), granted as I've gotten older I prefer hex based wargames, and old school dungeon crawlers like Wizardry or Arkania. I find myself returning to RPG maker because MV seems to be the most functional out of all the previous editions, and they recently announced they may add 3D dungeon crawling support, which would be awesome!

Anyway apart from wargames, I've been working on an RPG wizardry-like design that I would like to try making with RPG Maker. Conversations had on the forums have led me to believe that I will need some serious scripting skills in order to implement customized battle mechanics (to-hit rolls, armor class etc). Hoping with this introduction here I can maybe meet some like minded people who want to collaborate on a game, hopefully that can also manipulate java better than I. I'll list some of my influences in game making below, if any of these resonate with you, or just feel like chatting, feel free to respond or PM me here.

Thanks!
Ray

Favorite RPGs (in no order):

Final Fantasy Tactics
Final Fantasy V (Super Famicom)
Final Fantasy III (Famicom)
Forgetting the name of that Mech battler SRPG for the SF...
Super Mario RPG
Chrono Trigger
Wizardry 6, 7, & 8
Dungeon Crawl Stone Soup
Dwarf Fortress
Shin Megami Tensei (SF)
Secret of Mana II (Sieken Dentensu III or something like that?)
Terranigma (SF)
Harvest Moon 64
Stardew Valley
Realms of Arkania 1, 2, & 3
Darklands
Shadowrun (SNES & Genesis)
Saga Frontier I & II

Anyway, hopefully that list isn't too generic or campy and this post isn't too obnoxious, thanks for having me!

I'm playing though Shin Megami Tensei right now! It's a little awkward on my phone, but at least it doesn't carry the bugs that certain other versions do... Things learned from game: if you don't want to enrage your players, don't make combat every 4 steps on the overworld and give some kind of visual hint when you're crossing from "this stuff is pretty weak" to "you're going to die" areas. >.> Currently stuck at Arachne...

Anyway, the rest of that list lines up a lot with stuff I've played and enjoyed, too. It's nice to have a bunch of games you enjoy where you can take a little bit of each of the things you've enjoyed, chuck it all in a pot and cook up something new! ;)

Welcome, and enjoy your stay. :3

Thank you! Yeah SMT can be fairly brutal with it's encounter rate, but I suppose that's one of the things I like about it, closer to the old school pen and paper games of yore :)

Correct! I never played it during my childhood but played the pen and paper game years ago, emulated the genesis one recently and really enjoyed it, it would be a landmark game for the system in my opinion for it's complexity, depth, and immersion for it's time.

Also your game looks great, ill add it to my wishlist for when I have some more funds

Yay, now back in action Happy Christmas time, coming back!

Back in action to develop the indie game that has been long overdue... Final Fallacy. A game that keeps on giving! The development never ends as the developer thinks to be the smart cookie by coming back and beginning by saying... "Oh bother, this indie game has been long overdue..." How could one resist such? No-one c
So I was playing with filters and this looked interesting...

Versus the normal look...

Kind of gives a very different feel. :LZSexcite:
To whom ever person or persons who re-did the DS/DS+ asset packs for MV (as in, they are all 48x48, and not just x2 the pixel scale) .... THANK-YOU!!!!!!!!! XwwwwX
