When I'm bored or can't sleep, I tend to mess around and edit the RTP. Usually those creations end up deleted or tucked away in random folders on my computer, never to see the light of day. This thread is to combat that. Now you too can use these random things!

I'm glad you guys seem to like this stuff.    I've added some cat recolors to the sprite section, and found some old battlers and battleback edits I did so I've added those to the first post.  Nothing too mind-blowing, but here's a look at some of them.

Have you ever wanted to make a village for your game and thought "the RTP just doesn't let me make a realistic medieval village"?  No?  Then this update's probably not for you.    For everyone who has had that thought, I have good news: my current resource project is to make the things you'd expect to see in a village.  So now you can have details like wood benches, tanning rack and wheat bundles to add some more life to your maps!
 

If you have any ideas or suggestions for more medieval-ish village tiles for me to make, let me know (since every time I try to make a list of what I should make I end up drawing a blank)!

Thank you very much for undertaking to do these medieval tiles; they are sorely needed.

Many small medieval villages would have had a communal bread oven, domed in shape and overseen by the baker, because before the invention of chimneys, it was difficult to do yourself. For reference, if you look at the last 2 images on this page you'll see a completed oven.

I've taken a look a few days ago but forgot to comment (which happens far too often I'm afraid). But I really have to say some things:

I love the roofs. I think this is my favourite style of roofs to map with and having more options makes me very happy.
The medieval village tiles will come in handy for many people. I mean, straw roofs! ... Why am I so obsessed with roofs today?
I also like the battlebacks, only one little thing I need to nitpick on: The one with the red sky and the sea – the water should be red, just like the sky is (because of reflected light and so on). If I come to use them, I'd change it myself, but I wanted to mention it just in case (things like that bother me more than neccessary ^^").

I like the sheaves of wheat, the tanning racks, the small benches, the pile of wood, (real people do put them in containers, not just on the ground all the time, right?)


I was wondering what the item was with the log - covered with a skin and not, I think. Is it a work area for the tanner?

I like your roofs very much. Some small feedback: the wheat and the little wagon look a bit blurry, maybe rework that a bit.

Asura and the female thief, are those normally part of RPG Maker VX Ace? I don't see them in my enemies list.

p.s. I could see myself using the cops.

The cat and chicken are nice, I could use a pig though.

@Chiara - You're absolutely right about water color (I'm so sorry for failing you, middle school science teachers! >.<).  I've added a version with red water.
@GrandmaDeb - Thanks for adding me to your lists (I feel so honored)!  The log is something I saw when googling tanning racks, it looked like it was used to scrape skins on so I figured a tanner would probably find it useful.
@Candacis - I guess great minds think alike.  Looking at them again, the wheat and cart are a bit blurry so I will definitely go back and work on them some more.
@Miss Nile - Thanks!
@Zeello - The two of them are in the RTP, but I don't think they are set up in the enemy section of the database.  As for a pig, you should definitely check out Candacis' pig sprite.

I think the chickens and the coop are especially charming, and like others have mentioned, the roofs are going to be super useful for a lot of people. I always wanted the yellow and the green shingled ones in a corner style like that~ Kudos to you!

It's time to release the Quacken!  Or just post some duck sprites for you guys to use.   Here are my duck and squirrel sprites from the june Restaff, as well as a whole bunch of new ducks and some little ducklings.
