Is there any chance there's a plugin that hides part of the current map until you enter it, similar to 8-bit Dragon Quest? Or in other words, the map is only partially visible until you enter the next section and doesn't switch back to where you were until you actually return to where you were before? (And I don't mean breaking up a large map into separate data files, either - more like a transition from one part of a dungeon to the next while still using the same map file.) This could also be used to create warp edges (like the ones you have to deal with during the final ascent sequence from Dragon Quest 2) making for some light puzzle-solving or even an "infinite loop curse" that you must unravel in order to reach the point of your next objective.

Just beat the last of us 2 last night and starting jedi: fallen order right now, both use unreal engine & when I say i knew 80% of jedi's buttons right away because they were the same buttons as TLOU2 its ridiculous, even the same narrow hallway crawl and barely-made-it jump they do. Unreal Engine is just big budget RPG Maker the way they make games nearly identical at its core lol.
