Hide the controllable character from formation/battle?

Hey everyone, I have been trying to find a way to make it so the protagonist of the game actually doesn't fight at all and does not appear on the party formation. Basically in the story he has other people fighting for him, so him being in the party really clutters my idea.

Is it feasible to put actor 1 on reserve and still be able to control him for example? or possibly another way?

you'll need a plugin for this.

theoretically if might be possible to handle this by event commands, but only if you disable random encounters and have a specific sequence for the actors (you would have to remove the primary actor before every battle and add him later again)

If you're not planning on using follower characters, you could put the protagonist's character file (the one shown when walking around) on each party member and remove the protagonist from the party.

That way, whether you're using front view or side view, the people who do the fighting appear normally in combat. But on the map, whoever's the 1st party member will show up as the protagonist.

That comes with 2 limitations: follower characters must be off so the illusion isn't broken, and the protagonist can't be alone so they need somebody else in the party. The latter could have a workaround, you just have to detect when the protagonist could be alone, then you add them to the party temporarily and you make sure there won't be any battles possible.
