The talented folks at PVGames have provided us with a MAJOR update to the High Fantasy Resource Bundle!

This is the first of the High Fantasy resources, and it has been remastered and polished to be bigger and better than ever. Not only is there a significant increase in quality, but there are also an abundance of brand new details to help you make your maps (and characters!) truly amazing.

Just look at a few of the new screenshots!

NOTE: This is a free upgrade to the High Fantasy set. If you've already bought this pack via our store, forum store or Steam, you can download the new resources for free by clicking on the download link in your confirmation e-mail, client area > purchases or by simply signing in to Steam.

If you haven't bought the High Fantasy set yet, buying now will give you with the new remastered version.

For those of you who have purchased the High Fantasy Mega Pack, we have now updated it with the revamp content as well. :)

We will be slowly updating the screenshots and information on our sale pages, but we just couldn't wait to share the exciting new update! :)

Okay. Good to know, although i'll say that I don't particularly care for High Fantasy. Idk, the hyper-realistic look is unfriendly coupled with the 2d graphics, imo.

But, if people like that kind of stuff, then alrighty.

High Fantasy is great for DnD styled games or just dungeon crawlers imo. But I wouldn't use it in a typical JRPG either.

I liked what I saw when I first got it, except for the three step motion animations. I posted about it, and she said they had eight step animations but weren't able to get them in. From what I've read and seen, they've gotten the eight step animations working which look much more professionally done (are they part of this update? - guess I'll find out soon enough :) ).

The other problem at the time was simply not enough resources for a full game. You couldn't mix the stuff with anything RTP or RTP based or manga/anime based (which is pretty much everything). Now that they've got some more packs out, it's something I'm seriously considering for my 2nd game [not trying to put the cart before the horse, gotta finish the one I'm working on first]. It gives a bit more of the 3D 'feel' even though you're still playing a 2D game (kind of like the Infinity Engine, without the isometric view).

Might make a nice stepping stone between RTP styled jRPG and full fledged 3D game.

@Mouser - Yes, 8 direction spritesheets are now included for the characters, as well as message busts and down pose spritesheets.

Oh, and there is also a new set of icons included as well. For those who have the free icons, there are those included and a bunch more that I made.

I wasn't referring to directions - maybe I misunderstood what you had written (it was quite a while ago now).

The tall characters taking steps with only three frames of animation looked 'jerky' at best. I thought you had said you had made animations that were more frames per step to make the movement look "smoother" or more natural.

Eight directions is nice, too though :)

Oops, I misread what you wrote :) In either case, 8 frames of animation spritesheets for both 4 and 8 directions are included :)

Less weird contrast between the newer resources and the older ones, you are quite awesome pv games. Now I just have to wait it out until the megapack gets updated to try them out, but just knowing that they exist and that such updates are being done demonstrates your continued dedication to your customers.

How many of the characters now have portraits like in the screenshot? Are there plans to eventually have that feature for every single character set?

All characters in the bundle have message busts. I plan to eventually have all characters have message busts.

This makes me very, very happy.

I'm only sad the megapack isn't such a good deal since I own fantasy 1 and the deep. But the motion thing was really my big hangup. I'm using some of the monster sprites in my game now as roaming bosses and I'm not happy with them. Now I should be able to go back and change them up :)

Thank you for the update.  A lot of very useful resources there.  I do, however, have one thing.

You very helpfully give us the words and letters separately on the icon sheet so that we can make our own.  This enables those of use who are using the Ace wording to switch MAT and MDF for INT and RES.  However, (unless this is a case of not being able to see for looking), even the update doesn't give us ATK to switch for STR.  Because of the way the black backgrounds are done, this means having to take the initial A from AGI, the middle T from STR and the final K from LUK - not impossible, obviously, but extra work certainly.

Just thought I'd mention this.

Hello!

When I download the pack from my old confirmation e-mail I get the old unupdated version. Am I doing anything wrong?

@PVGames

Three things.

1. Thank you. You have no idea how excited I am to finally have tiles I can use to make farms. XD

2. Do you plan on doing this for HF2 and The Deep as well?

3. I love the updated Goblins, Ogre and Undead.

@ksjp17: That is an oversight on my part - my bad for not including Atk etc as pre-made acronyms. Sure, not impossible to make them out the pieces supplied, but they are such common ones for RPGMaker that they should be there already. I will probably update the free set soon and include them.

@Timmy: Glad you are pleased - I remembered a bunch of the stuff that you stated you would like to see and used as much of that list as I could. I do plan on updating HF2 and The Deep as well (this will come a little later).

@PVGames: Yeah, I also like the new Iconset. A lot more variety. Not sure if I told you, but my game is based off the DnD 3.5(Formerly)/Pathfinder(Currently) campaign I've been DM/GMing for the last three years and your High Fantasy resources are perfect for it.

Now I can make Snotrot's Farm (Snotrot is an Ogre who was raised by two farmers, eventually inheriting their farm). :D

Yeah, my order confirmation isn't given me the updated version yet either. I'll wait a bit and try again. :|

Hey, PV.

Just another minor thing. It seems there are no icon graphics with the iconset, unless I'm blind which is quite possible. ;) Combining the free one you've made available with the one offered in the High Fantasy Bundle via Game Character Hub tends to cut off part of the 'sheet', so some icons don't appear.

Apart from that, very good job and it's great you're updating the resource packs without charging any extra. Speaks to your work ethic, character etc. Thanks. :)
