I heartily encourage more experiments with environments! I think that underground cave temple deal is my favorite.

And you get to be taking an animation course, too! How exciting. The results look like it is panning out well.

Yeah I'm trying to get better at landscapes/backgrounds. I joined my university's new 3D Game Develoment Club and they are teaching me not only how to do landscapes but also how to color in semi-realism.
