"Hold L+R to Run" or something similar

Hey everyone,

Is there such a script that is available or that can be made to allow "run" or "flee" to work the same way older Final Fantasy games do? It's not a selectable command or skill, you just hold L+R (or two programmable buttons of choice) simultaneously to activate it.

What I'm hoping for is a way to make that work without disrupting the flow of battle. For instance, it doesn't count as anybody's turn but works in the background while the battle continues. In some of the old games, you would have to hold them for longer periods of time before you could successfully run away, all the while you're still getting clobbered by enemies. You could even have a gab window appear at the top that says "attempting to flee" or something to that nature until it works. The wait time on how long it takes the party to run could be correlated to the enemies difficulty and the current average level of the party. For instance, it would take you a lot longer to be able to run if you're a level 10 and the enemy is around the same strength, but you could run instantly if you're, say, a level 50 fighting a level 1 monster.

Does this make sense? Is this possible?

Sounds a bit beyond me, but it would probably be helpful to state any battle plugins with which you need this to be compatible, especially since it sounds as though you may not be using the standard turn-based system. :kaoswt:

It's all possible, just depends how much effort/expertise someone is able/willing to expend on the request. :p

Are you using an ATB or real-time battle system? Because doing this doesn't even make sense outside of those.

Ok, some clarifications. Yes, I am using an ATB system. Pretty much all of the plugins I'm using for battle is from Yanfly. There are a few others I'm using from other people like MogHunter and SumRndmDde.

I'm using MogHunter's skill learning and skill equip plugins, as well as his passive states plugins. And I have yet to implement them, but I plan on using SumRndmDde's Timed Attacks.

Hello! I would like to know if there are any pluggings or any way to customize how battles look?
I was thinking that when you start the battle for it to appear the eyes of your characters and opponents sorta like Ace Attorney.
