Try to remove and reimport them again, if the same problem occur again, neither:

1.The files are corrupted

2.You're doing it wrong

To listen to them, check the format.  If they are .ogg you will need something like the program Audacity (it's free) as you can't open them in e.g. Windows Media Player.

Just to check, to import music into any game (it doesn't matter that it's horror music, that makes no difference)

Open Resource Manager,

Select Audio/BGM

Select Import

Navigate to the folder where you have your music.

Click on the track(s) you want to import

Click OK

though I think it's better to use the .ogg for BGMs as they loop better... and the RTP files are .ogg too...

I deleted the music files in Resource Manager and reimported them. What originally happened was I had imported the .ogg version and not the mp3 version thus I was unable to listen and sample them. By going off Emzie's advice I've fixed the issue so thank you Emzie. What I'm doing is making a more fantasy-based rpg but I've broken out tradition and instead of the player being a hero, he/she is a villain. Because of that I wanted some of the music to be "dark". So I figured I'd use music from the horror pack.

Which is weird because you should be able to listen to the .ogg files if you used the sound manager of the RPG Maker after you import those files... and the maker should be able to run it too since all of the RTP sound files are .ogg

if you can still use the RTP ogg files without problems, then it could simply mean that the .ogg files you downloaded somehow got corrupted... not that you're cursed... lol

I am cursed when I alone had this problem plus it doesn't help that a day or two ago a black cat walked in front of my path. YET I love black cats, ironic eh. -_-

so even the RTP ogg files don't work? if it's just the horror pack, you can always try redownloading... or try the other free ogg files out there, there are quite a lot and see if your maker can use them...

so hopefully tomorrow i get to go home from the hospital i've been here for 5 days already and it's driving me mad. I miss my family like crazy but at least I get to use my own toiletries and my own clothes. My mom is coming to visit soon i can't wait to see her cause i miss her the most. :kaojoy:
Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
