I remember that in Yume Nikki, you had to click 9 (at least I think it was nine) to wake yourself up, and you could toggle on and off effects with other keys.

I was wondering if there was a script for something like this for VX Ace.

Well, you can use the default mapped keys right now to do things via checking their state using Input.pressed?(key_symbol) (or was it .press?) as defined on the help file... if you want full keyboard support, you need to get other input scripts. There are quite a few out there.

Yeah, I was trying to find some of those scripts, and I couldn't seem to find any that weren't specialized for something. That's why I came here to ask.

Try to look for something called Input... also, you can easily remove the keybindings of those specialized scripts anyways... most of them aren't specialized, they just included defaults bindings...

I'm looking for something where I can make a button activate a common event... The thing is that I have next to no knowledge of RGSS3, so manipulating scripts or understanding how to work one is difficult. I'm finding a couple keyboard input scripts but I have no idea how to use them in the game.

Which key do you want to use? Maybe you can just settle with the default keys available?

One option is to use a parallel process common event...

Just make it run every frame or so (via adding waits), then use the Conditonal branch

Conditional Branch: Script: Input.pressed?:)C)

Then do your thing

once that Parallel CE is running, it will do what you want whenever the :C button is pressed (the keyboard X button by default)

so all you need to know now is the symbol used for the key you wanna use...

Oh sorry, I'm really out of it. Hmmmm. Indeed now I just need to figure out the keys... The key configuration for this program has always confused me. I don't know what's what.

You can view the help file for that... it's ABCXYZLR

then you can check the F1 -> Keyboard to see which keyboard keys are mapped to each of those symbols

SHIFT CTRL ALT F5-F9 DOWN LEFT UP RIGHT are also accepted and are binded to those keys exactly

Back in action to develop the indie game that has been long overdue... Final Fallacy. A game that keeps on giving! The development never ends as the developer thinks to be the smart cookie by coming back and beginning by saying... "Oh bother, this indie game has been long overdue..." How could one resist such?
