How can I change the default map zoom in Ace?

Hello.

I'm looking for a way to change the default camera setting in VX Ace.

I would like to zoom the camera in a bit more, so you can see a bit more detail on the sprites.

I'm convinced that the solution to this problem lies in the 'Game_Map' script, specifically in these lines:

    x = [0, [x, width - screen_tile_x].min].max unless loop_horizontal?

    y = [0, [y, height - screen_tile_y].min].max unless loop_vertical?

    @display_y = (y + height) % height

    @parallax_x = x

    @parallax_y = y

  end
However, from what I can tell, editing these values only effects camera placement, and not zoom.

Is there any way without someone else's script to edit the camera zoom?

No, I don't think so - that just shows where on the map the screen is focussed. Nothing about the zoom.


For zoom to work properly, it's not just the map that you're interested in, but all the character, animation, weather sprites, etc.


Did you do a search? It would surprise me if there aren't already some zoom scripts around.

I've been searching for some time, but all of the working scripts I find are based on Payed Liscenses,

and at the moment, I have no funds for that. For instance, that script by Zeus has a $30 liscense.

Is there any specific parts of ruby I can learn to make a similar script?
