How can I change the max number of save files?

I'm making a checkpoint system for my game and I only need 4 save files.

Yanfly save core can do this

There'll be a way to do it other than using this but the functionality is included within this. Just set max save files plugin parameter to 4

EDIT: My bad, didn't look at the engine, just assumed MV

Additionally you can just go to script editor > DataManager > Line 125 > Change 20 to 4
