Hi. I am totally new to RPG Maker VX Ace and I am currently learning. I have a question.

How can I change the player's walking speed? And by player, I mean the character/sprite that you/gamer moves. I noticed in some rpgmaker games like Ib, Misao, Mad Father, The Sandman, and other similar games (although most of the games I mentioned are made in Wolf RPG Editor) that the walking speed of the sprite that you move is different from the default walking speed in RPG Maker VX Ace. Can I change it? If so, do I need a script or it's just an event?

I just want to clarify again (to avoid confusion :) ) that the player I mentioned is the one you move when you are playing the game. Thank you. :)

make an event with a move route command on the player, and change speed with the moveroute commands there

Oh, I think what you helped me with is the NPC's speed.

The one I'm actually asking for is how to change the speed of your character itself.

Can I change that actor's speed? For example, I am currently playing the game; when I move my character with the arrow keys it moves faster than the default speed. I could only change the NPC's walking speed using an event, but not the character I am controlling.

Andar is actually right. The thing you forgot to do is change the target to "Player".

I get what you say, but I am actually a little confused since I am very new to RPG Maker Ace, haha. XD

I followed what you suggested me to do, but I can only do that to NPC's and not the player I am controlling. What I want to change is the player's(the one that is controlled with the arrow keys) walking speed. Like in Ib, the character you control to move(which is Ib) moves faster than normal.

I am really confused. XD

When you enter a set move route command in an event (NOT the custom autonomous move route, you need the command in the content area!), the top left (above the move list) is a drop-down-list containing the player and every event on the map.

If you change that drop-windows, you change the target of the move route commands.

You can use this to command the player or to command other events in a cutscene.

You can select player in the move route command (it's a drop down list). It should already, by default, be set to target the player.

Edit: ninja'd!

I am going to go through this step by step, with pictures.

1. Create a new event and set the trigger to "Autorun". We could set it to "Parallel Process", but that would make it so that the player can't dash at any time.

2. Create a new event command. It should be "Set Move Route...". The target MUST be "Player" for this to work!

2. Click the "Change Speed..." command within the "Set Move Route..." command. Change the speed to the desired walking speed of your actor.

3. Next, create a new event command. It should be "Control Self Switch". Set it to A.

4. Create a new event page.

4. Within "Conditions", set the Self Switch to A.

5. Click OK, and it should work! :)

You don't need to do it in a new event and it certainly doesn't need to be autorun.

At the point you want the player to speed up, just add a Set Move Route command. End of story.

You're right. I just demonstrated it in a new event.

Oh, oh, I get it! :D Thank you so much everyone! I was so dumb. XP I didn't get it until you gave me a demo. I'm so sorry. :) I'm really new so I don't know so many options yet. :)

Thank you again! :D

Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
