How could I set up a simple block puzzle system?

Specifically the idea of "grabbing" the block is the problem. Simply giving an option (via event interaction) to "push" or "pull" the block, or just push upon touch, is easy enough, but is there any way to do a traditional push/pull system where you actually "grab" the block? I have done a bit of searching and there seems to be little info on such a matter even though it's a relatively generic JRPG thing.

Any ideas at all would be much appreciated.

What is the difference between grabbing and pushing/pulling? Once you grab it aren't you going to want to move it somewhere? Maybe if you explain how the puzzle works we'll be able to understand a little better.

well the pushing is simple enough. There's a few tutorials on setting up push puzzles. For the pulling.. that's the hard part. You'll probably end up needing a script. I don't mess with evening too much any more so I'm not sure of all the options. You might be able to set up a parallel process that checks if a certain button is pressed.. for example's sake I'll use the "S" key.

So if the player presses the S key, see if they are facing an event that is a puzzle piece, if they are, then change the player's image to a pulling character sheet and then set the even to follow the player. You might need to set another key (or possible the same key) to release the pulling effect and revert the event back to stay and the character's sprite sheet back to normal.

Hope that wasn't too confusing.. and it's not at all tested.. just an idea

I mean that instead of just being able to walk into a block and push it, you can pull it also, which naturally involves grabbing (rather than a text option to grab every time).

Basically what you see in the first few seconds of where I'm linking to in this video:

Hm, I might not have many other options but to try it like that. If key pressed, follow player, something like that. Should work because the event shouldn't move without activation from player touch or whatever, so hopefully the player can't telepathically move it around XD

I know someone has posted a method of doing this sort of stuff just with events. Take a look through the tutorial forum - they may have written up a tutorial on it afterwards.

In fact I searched for you ... I'm not sure if these will do what you want, but they're worth a read (there you go - I helped with the solution, no wonder I remember it) :

Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
