All the way back when I was a kid in Elementary School, I enjoyed making games. I even made a 'game' with Stat Sheets via pieces of papers and me and my friends would pretend to walk around and get into battles and we'd level up with the stat sheets. Cut to middle school/early high school I heard another classmate mention something called "RPG Maker" and me being me loved that from the first mention. I asked my mom about it and she eventually ended up buying me RPG Maker 3 for the PS2.

I played this a ton. Finally, I was able to put all my ideas and thoughts into a tangible system. Granted, RPG Maker 3 isn't great or anything, but as my first foray into game creation, I was in love. I never actually made anything from the game, more so just played around with the ideas and effects. Overtime my interested in the game just faded, and I stopped playing to move onto other things, but my love of making games never died, just put aside.

In 2014 I was in a very bad state, and as I often do it bad times, I think back to the past. I thought of RPG Maker 3. So on some day, I searched it up and found RPG Maker VX Ace. It cost a fair bit for me at that time, but there was a free trial for a week. I tried it out, and instantly fell in love again. Everything was just so much better than my past experience. I got started right away making a game. It lifted my mood, it gave me joy, and it let me create something that was truly me. A year later, in early-mid 2015, my hard drive broke and I lost all my progress because I never thought to have a back up.

I was distraught, but I didn't let it get to me. In June 2015 I decided I was going to start again. I was going to make another game. And to this day I'm still working on it.

Long story short: I found out about RPG Maker because some kid in my class mentioned the name and my mom bought me whatever version she found.

I first found out about the rpg makers back when I was in 8th grade. A friend had gotten a copy of RM2000 and let me play around with it. The games we made we're pretty awful even by amateur standards, but we had a lot of fun with it regardless. Been keeping up with the rm series ever since.

I came across a copy of RPG Maker for the PSX at a used video game store. I convinced my brother to split the cost with me and we took the game home. We had some fun with it but ultimately still preferred playing games to making them. Life happened and we forgot about the engine for several years until I happened to see other RPG Maker titles come up during a Steam sale. I asked my brother to get me one of them as a gift, and he chose XP because he read it was the best one for making games similar to Pokémon. I let it sit for some years because I was intimidated by the difficulty level, but recently found a nice tutorial that I am trying to modify in order to familiarize myself with the software. It is my hope to eventually be able to release something for others to play.

The year was 1999.. I was looking up some info on a historic figure named Don Miguel. I searched Don Miguel in yahoo, but it wasn't a historic figure who pinged back in the results. Instead, it was a figure who would make history in a niche and ever growing crowd of videogame nerds!

Been tinkering ever since. :)

Probably a time when I was searching for rpg games and found Crestfallen "The Way" (rpg maker 2000) before 2010

I joined rpgmakerweb forums near the end of 2016. I'll try to contribute by organizing scripts. (rgss3 for starters)

I start RPG Maker ~10 years ago, when I wanted to create a small RPG game with a friend :). I've sticked with the french community for a while and discovered this forum last year, when I wanted to know more about the upcoming RPG Maker MZ !

The way I found out was all the way back in High School during the RPG Maker 2000 and 2003 era. I kept hearing people talking about it, and then decided to look it up, and start making games.

When I was a young girl, I LOVED video games. I loved everything about them: The story, the graphics, the characters, the mechanics... I was obsessed! I also enjoyed drawing and reading fairy tales. You could say I was a bit of a nerd! Hehe.
When I was about 7 years old or so, my parents and I would play a kid's version of Dungeons and Dragons, called Kids, Castles, and Caves by Halfling Press. I loved it, and we would make up silly stories. Sometimes, my little sister (Now my brother) would play some games with our parents. But I always wondered... How could I make my own stories??
About 7th grade or so, I was derping around in the library, when I saw it: A guidebook on how to make RPG's with RPG Maker. I was fooling around on Roblox trying to make my own games with little to no scripting knowledge to no avail, and I was like, "Huh. This is interesting." So I checked that book out, and I instantly fell in love! The book explained tips and tricks on using the system, and it was all in an easy-to-understand format! Unfortunately, my eyes glanced over at the price for the system: $60?! I was trying to keep my personal supply of snacks and games alive on a budget of $5 a week, and I was an impulsive spender. If I saw something, and I wanted it really badly, and I could afford it at that moment, I would buy it. So I walked out of the library after returning that book, crushed. Yet RPG Maker was still on my mind... I had a binder full of a big RPG I wanted to eventually do. I wonder where that went???

About several years later, I got $75 in Steam cash for Christmas, and I wanted to see what games I could buy. I was hugely into D&D at the time, and I wanted to play an RPG, so I searched up "RPG." And guess what popped up! My old friend, RPG Maker! And it was on sale for 19 bucks! With the addons I got, it cost a total of $37. So I got MV, and I started on a random game, messing around with the mechanics. YouTube tutorials and the community portal on Steam were my best friends. And now I'm here!

I was a kid (10 yo maybe), had a magazine with CD where was some indie games... There was one game, I don't remember the title, but it was about a blue-haired sorcerer. It was made in RM2000, the game was crappy as hell, but I liked it a lot. Couldn't beat it (now I think it was impossible to get over it). A few years later I found the same default graphic in other game, so I was interested why and what's going on. There was a splash screen saying "made in rM 2000" or sth, and I typed that in google... I have soaked up to this day.

I found VXAce Lite while looking for free games on steam, and eventually bought the full version when it went on sale.

It was a German magazine that introduced a RPG Maker game called "Vampires Dawn". This amazing game was the reason why everybody started to get a copy of RPG-Maker 2k. This piece of software was (and still is) so fun.

Years ago these weeeird little games started popping up on my Youtube recommended, and so I got intrigued by an engine that is relatively easy to use solo and make good stuff, compared to other behemonths.

A new day for creating :)
2021 has been the runner-up for the worst year of my life. 2015 may take that title, but '21 is pushing it. Excuses really don't justify how much of a jerk I've been this year to a lot of people.

I'm sorry. I don't intend to be a jerk forever, but I'd rather back up my intent with actions, not words.
"Another hundred habaneros... a teaspoon of tumeric... and a heaping helping of nitroglycerin!" The kitten in a chef's hat laughed maniacally as the pot he was stirring promptly exploded.
