I'm not sure what this icon is representing and I can't find out how to change it. I have the VisuMZ plug-ins

Characters and monsters both have it, it shows up at start of battle before anything has been casted and lasts forever

My guess is that you have the Break Shields plugin active. Check if it's on in the Plugin Manager. If so, turn it off and test again and see if the icon is gone.

The icon itself represents how many "Shields" a battler has. Shields decrease when a battler takes a hit from an element they're weak to. When the shield count reaches zero, the battler is affected by a state defined in the Break Shields plugin's Parameters (by default the Stun state in the Database).

a second possibility is that you modified your iconsheet in the wrong way.

the first icon in the sheet always needs to be completely transparent, because that icon will be displayed if there are no states applied to the battler.
and if you modified the iconsheet so that it contains an icon instead of a transparent field in the first position, you'll always get that icon.

Messing around with fragment shaders (filters). This thing is HUGE and I'm surprised almost no one makes good use of. Even the number of plugins that do this stuff are limited.

There's 7 main areas in the game that are all connected. This train get's you from an underground lab to the center of someone's subconscious. inside the train you can talk to some of the passengers. but going to the top of it, there's battles.
Speedrunning all character portraits just so they all have the same quality. Not sure if this was a good idea, but now I'm almost done.
We now have a gameplay video!

That is a cute Link picture, reminds me of the Samurai Jack artstyle.
