I'm new to this community but this is something I enjoy doing so I'm trying to step it up and get more serious about it.

I own rpg maker for the PSX so I'm used to that style, I've tried using the other versions for the computer and I can't quite figure out how to do a simple multiple outcome event like I would in the PSX version. I know its possible, but the tutorials I see try to make it too advanced, I'm going for something really basic, I can add more flare to it on my own after I get the basic mechanics down. This is how I had it set up on RPG Maker

highlight "fishing rod" in inventory and use it on a body of water to start event

2 way choice

-50% you get a bite

-50% nothing

if you get a bite

3 way choice

-60% small fish

-35% medium Fish

-5% Large fish

and each of those branched off to another string of 3 way choices equaling 9 possible outcomes.

Like I said, super basic, I just cant get it for some reason. Sorry for the noob question but if anyone could at least tell me how to set up that basic 3 way situation that would help a lot.

I've moved this thread to MV Support. Please be sure to post your threads in the correct forum next time. Thank you.

Tutorials is for tutorials you wrote yourself, not for asking questions.

Please describe what your problem with the sequence above is, possibly post a screenshot of the event code you have so far.

Because it sounds like a simple sequence of control variable (to get a random number) and conditional branches (to check the number)

Oh my bad, thanks for moving it for me. I'll look into what you said

"Because it sounds like a simple sequence of control variable (to get a random number) and conditional branches (to check the number)"

and if I don't get it from there I'll post a screenshot for further assistance.

It sounds pretty straightforward:

Event is set to activate on Player Touch AND to Require Fishing Rod

Listing both conditions in the event page requires both to activate.

Set Variable RANDOM to a value from 1 to 100

If RANDOM < 50

Exit Event Processing

Else

Set Variable RANDOM to a value from 1 to 100

If RANDOM > 94

Set Variable RANDOM to a value from 1 to 3

If RANDOM == 1

First Large Fish

Exit Event Processing

Else If RANDOM == 2

Second Large Fish

Exit Event Processing

Else

Third Large Fish

Exit Event Processing

End

Else

If RANDOM > 60

Medium Fish

Else

Small Fish

End

End

Does this make sense?  You need to Exit Event Processing after each selection completes.

You could add a Choice "Do you want to fish?" if you don't want the player to fish every single time s/he touches the pond.

Back in action to develop the indie game that has been long overdue... Final Fallacy. A game that keeps on giving! The development never ends as the developer thinks to be the smart cookie by coming back and beginning by saying... "Oh bother, this indie game has been long overdue..." How could one resist such?
