How do I get people to play my games? I already post one of my games on here and yet I got nothing. I'm making these games for no one. Is there anything I can do?

Already, you promoted it.(by writing about it on forum) Bad child. But it may be effective. But if you want people to play it, make adversitements. Make FB page about this game and invite friends. Make game page on games sites(for example Gamejolt[Here's my game page, for example-some SS, short description that says about features and synopsis-http://gamejolt.com/games/legend-of-beastwoods/145034). Add screenshots, videos, description that makes people want to play. Or make another game. After some time(and games) you'll get popular, an people start to play your games. Good luck !

I've read your thread about your game, and I think what could help is to improve the spelling on your description. As Korbinus above said, you might also need to market your game some more, maybe even ask close friends of yours to try out your game.

A better presentation of your game would make people more interested.

You topic is just a huge wall of text, with no formating and poor organization.

Look some of the more popular project topics to see the difference between their presentation and your.

Two examples just on the first page of the project development area:

A good presentation is the first step to stir the interest of people on your project.

Afraid it's time to learn then. Start by trying to implement a better presentation, and ask for feedback on it. Fix it, rinse, rather repeat.

Also another idea: Do a play swap. I got involved in one for the IGMC back in 2014 where we played each other's games (as in, I play your game if you play mine). I kind of wish we still had that going, but if one starts up again get involved in it. And in the meantime, play other people's games. Once you play and report on a few games chances are someone will return the favor and play yours.

And finally, don't get upset if it takes forever to get players. There are literally more games in existence than the average person can play in a lifetime. Just give it time, and eventually the players will come.

yeah honestly all this time and I saw no one even noticed my post I felt disheartened. like I was wasting so much time for nothing and wanted to just scrap my projects. What made me feel worse is that I had no idea how to get it out there more. Make it spread

If it makes you feel better, it took 2 months from when I posted mine to get the first substantial feedback, outside of the play swap. So give it time, and keep working at it!

After looking at both your December and March postings I agree that your posts look like walls of text. First of all, it is hard to read because there is no real formatting. Second, there are spelling mistakes which I can overlook, but they are rather distracting and there were a couple sentences that didn't really make sense. Third, it doesn't look like you took the time to sit down with your post, re-read, and edit it. This makes the post, and in turn you, look sloppy. Your section about Flaws or Bugs doesn't help, quote: "I kinda never took the time to look at the preview. I kinda rushed this to be honest." It's nice that you were honest and I know you say it was only a 5 minute demo, but you didn't even look at it before posting?

A lot of the ideas you were trying to get across to the reader are just mashed together and do not flow very well. All of this is rather distracting to the reader and quite frankly is off putting. I start reading about your characters and instantly I'm bored. You list a bunch of weapons and super powers and then go straight into back stories that kind of bounce around and are all jumbled.

Your game post doesn't need to look like everyone else's post, but a few things are basic:

  • include screenshots (like in your December post), you can also include a brief gameplay video or a trailer. These last two can be links like you have, but jazz them up a little with formatting. Yours just kind of get lost at the bottom in a paragraph.
  • format your post writing - make headers for each section this way readers can easily find and read what they want to while they ignore the other stuff
  • a brief synopsis of the game
  • a brief synopsis of the characters

Let's talk about that youtube channel. The videos aren't bad in general. They are meant to be entertaining AND educate the public on your progress. Those are the kinds of videos you want to make. I like how "you" come out and address the person watching the video, it's a good gimmick IMO. I only had a couple of issues with them; first there is the problem with the spelling again. Second, the length of time you leave the dialogue boxes on screen is too damn short. I had to sit there and pause/unpause, pause/unpause and even rewind the videos a bunch of times in order to read what I missed. It sucked to have to do that because it broke up the flow of the whole video. That's just my opinion, other people may not care so much.

I think that's about covers my opinions.

I've moved this thread to General Discussion - this has nothing to do with Ace support. Please be sure to post your threads in the correct forum next time. Thank you.

Marketing is like 70% of the challenge for creative projects. If you want to be noticed in a crowded internet world like this, you gotta be at least a little louder. ;)

Lots of great suggestions here already:

  • make a facebook page
  • invite your friends
  • create a dev blog
  • make the demo (or the whole game if it's free) available on as many sites as you can (rpgmaker.net is a good place to start)
  • put a banner image and a link to your game's post in your signature, etc etc.

I also recommend learning some basic HTML... not full on coding level mind you, but just some basic tags so you can add images, bold text, make lists, all that kinda stuff.

Learning how to market a game (or any creative project, really) is another project in and of itself, but trust me when I say those skills will serve you VERY well in life. :D

I did the demo, that got nowhere. Im told to improve my post cause its a wall of text but the thing is....I HAVE NO IDEA HOW. People have a bar that you click and it opens stuff, dont know how to do that. I dont know how to make any forum post look good

Hit the eye icon up above where you type. That will open a spoiler tag that  you can type in.

Also, I think someone did start up a review trade a while ago, though I think last post was 5.10 or thereabouts. Maybe check it out and see if with summer now starting (and school ending) if more people have time to play?

Hello! I would like to know if there are any pluggings or any way to customize how battles look?
I was thinking that when you start the battle for it to appear the eyes of your characters and opponents sorta like Ace Attorney.
Sadly I don't know how that would be possible so I would be needing help! If you can help me in any way I would really apreciate it!
