How do I get the player to walk in place?

I know that you can give an event the opportunity to walk in one place. How to do it for the player?

Try setting move route stepping on for the player, something like that, i dont have the maker at hand atm and cant check the specific name.

Do you mean as part of say a cutscene or do they have control? If the latter maybe set up an invisible wall for them to continually walk into that becomes passable under whatever circumstance you need.

I tried using the move route, but the player continues to move regardless of whether the move button is pressed or not. I need the player to move only when the button is pressed.

How to make such a wall? Usually, when a player hits an obstacle, the walking animation does not play..

Try a conditional branch to check if a move key is being pressed. If so then run your stepping move route.

Perhaps you can hide your characters instead of stopping and creating transfer points to keep them going back and forth.

Transfer set fade = none.

Set the point of birth in the circle

The downside is that I don't know a way out. You may need to set the link variable.
Use the command to hide the character and paste the fake character instead.

In my case, the main thing for me is that the animation is performed when the button is pressed and stops when it is released. If I understood correctly, this cannot be done with this method.

What issue do you see with this?

Edit: In a parallel event

If move key is pressed:
Run move route with stepping on
Else:
Leave blank

You could set extra conditions such as requiring the player be facing a certain direction as well

It really works! But, if I leave blank, the animation cannot be stopped. I did as in the screenshot + I had to put an obstacle so that the player would not move. And so far it only works in 1 direction. Need to create 4 events for each direction?

You misunderstood a little. I have a character sprite that is eating. And I would like the player sitting at the table to play the animation of eating food when the button is pressed.

Wait, if it’s for a character eating, wouldn’t you want the trigger to be the “OK” button? Then you wouldn’t have to worry about the other directions.
