How do I make a message saying that an actor has learnt a certain skill?

I'm making an item that teaches the user a random skill, and whenever the user learns a new skill I want a message to appear saying "(user) has learnt (skill name)!" How do I go about doing this using a script? I don't want to have to type an entire message with the skill name for every skill (there's 98 of them)

FYI I've already made the learning a random skill component working, the only thing I need help with is specifically the message that appears when a skill is learnt. Thanks! :yhappy:

I've moved this over to Learning Javascript (Plugin Support is for help using existing Plugins).

How are they learning the skill? MV should do this by default, so if yours is not, you probably have a plugin that's disabled the feature.

Basically when the item is used, a random skill is taught but right now all that happens is that the item used sound is played and the menu closes. So I'll have to manually go to my skills menu and check out what has changed

How are you adding the random skill? Is it in the damage formula, or do you use event commands? There is a parameter that says to show the message and you may not be including it.

Are you able to post a screenshot of whatever it is that gives the skill?

Just beat the last of us 2 last night and starting jedi: fallen order right now, both use unreal engine & when I say i knew 80% of jedi's buttons right away because they were the same buttons as TLOU2 its ridiculous, even the same narrow hallway crawl and barely-made-it jump they do. Unreal Engine is just big budget RPG Maker the way they make games nearly identical at its core lol.
Can someone recommend some fun story-heavy RPGs to me? Coming up with good gameplay is a nightmare! I was thinking of making some gameplay platforming-based, but that doesn't work well in RPG form*. I also was thinking of removing battles, but that would be too much like OneShot. I don't even know how to make good puzzles!
one bad plugin combo later and one of my followers is moonwalking off the screen on his own... I didn't even more yet on the new map lol.
time for a new avatar :)
