How do I make a report about this?

First off, I am sorry if this is in the wrong forum, but I was watching RM vids on YouTube, and came across a video showing people how to get a cracked copy of VX Ace for free. According the comments, this thing the video actually works (I didn't do it, as I have common decency) and I was wondering if or how I should report this to Enterbrain, Degica, Kadokawa or whoever is in charge of VX Ace, so that this illegal distribution of cracked copies can stop.

Generally as a pm to one of the staff I'd assume, as posting about illegal uses of a product on a public forum for said product can easily tip off the people you are trying to warn against.

In the grand scheme of things though it doesn't really matter in this instance, the only way to stop cracked copies of digital products from being distributed is not to distribute the product period. That's just how it is, squash one cracked link and 10 will replace it, it's as easy as a new pirate asking for the shutdown crack on Reddit and others who got it before it was shutdown will happily repost it.

When you find something like that, PM a moderator. That way they're not getting a heads up or any ad revenue from the rubberneckers. (But don't PM me because I'm going to bed right now.)

I thought YouTube had a report feature. If you use it, just say that the video is illegally telling how to get paid products for free. The staff of YouTube would probably take it down then.

Edit: YT has a report feature, but no option for distribution of a paid product for free is there.

Yes, but only YT can take the video down.

I still think you should report it - it's illegal, is there mention of discussing how to carry out illegal actions?

Yeah, YouTube doesn't actually care, they still get a cut of the revenue. Report it to Degica (through the mod). They have lawyers.

The MV version is also still up. It's for Version 1.50 and I downloaded it to test it. Haven't installed it, but it should work. So yea, that's annoying.
The file is hosted on google drive. had to go through adfly to get there too.

@Roninator2 Yeah, I had accidentally included a link to a vid for the MV version in the report, so I guess that was fate that stepped in. I think they might still be looking into it.

I tried to report it myself, but per youtube it has to be reported by the copywrite holder or a legal representative. So afraid none of us can report it to youtube, it will have to be one of Degica's lawyers to get it taken down.

Though I wonder if you could report the channel for piracy?

The thing with youtube is it doesn't really "ban" people unless countries or big companies take legal actions (meaning multi-million). (They couldn't care less about big stuff but care about petty stuff like accidental copyrights (usually from new uploaders who don't understand the rules of uploading yet.) . That's how they work.)

I've seen tons of crap about ripped software, ripped games, ripped anything basically. You report them. They "three strike" one channel instead of blocking actual IPs. So another channel shows up with the same bs. It's an endless cycle. It's sad and frustrating at the same time for many small devs without the multi-millions needed to strike down those thieves! All you can do really is to spread the word to discourage theft and report to whomever is the dev for those softwares, games, etc. to see if they can do anything about it. Be vigilant.

While Youtube may not do something about it, the places where the pirated copy is hosted can and will. Happens all the time. Once reported, usually takes about 24/48 hours before said link it taken down and, usually, the account of the person that put it up removed for copyright violations.

So, even if the Youtube stays up, the file on the host won't. If they choose to reupload to a different one, well, it'll get reported and taken down again.
