How do I make a tile not affect the area around it?

So, y'know how if you place a window on a wall it doesn't remove the wall behind it? How do I give that affect to my tiles? I know it's probably pretty obvious, but I'm kind of new to RPG Maker.

Thank you!

Hi and welcome. That happens because you are placing a tile from a B-E sheet onto a tile from an A sheet. In Ace, placing B-E tiles on top of each other, erases what you had there first. If you have something that absolutely needs to be under another tile and is not an autotile, it should be placed in the A5 sheet. All A tiles though need to take up the full 32x32 square, otherwise, there will be black around what you make.

I hope that helps. If not, please clarify what you are trying to do a bit more.

Are you saying I should, for example, have a wall on A1-4 and the window on A5? Because when I try to place a tileset on A1-4 it becomes all jumbled.

No, not at all. I strongly recommend that you open the help file in Ace and search "Resource Standards". This will help you better understand the different type of tiles.

A1 is animated autotiles, such as water tiles. A2 is typically ground tiles. A3 & A4 are wall tiles. A5 is a special sheet of non-auto ground tiles.

Autotiles are formatted differently to make them, well, auto. Placing tiles that are not formatted in this special way in an A1-A4 slot will create that jumbled look.

You could potentially put the wall in an A5 sheet and have it work. Can you post a screenshot of the tiles you are trying to work with so we can better understand what you need to do with them?

Another trick you can try is to turn the item you're want to place into a non-functioning event. This will let the item sit on top of another B-E item without erasing it. Create an event and then select the item in the image box. The trigger should be set to Action Button. As long as you don't put anything in the content section, the item won't react even if the player happens to hit the spacebar or enter buttons when touching it.

Here, these are a few of the tiles.
I've messed with the arrangements, from putting walls into A3 and in A5, and other objects in A5 but I still can't seem to get it to work.

@Dj_Swagman , please avoid double posting, as it is against the forum rules. You can use the "Edit" function on your posts to add additional information you've forgotten or respond to multiple people. You can review our forum rules here. Thank you.

That is, posting after yourself when no one else has responded. You can quote more than one post at a time, just by selecting each quote before inserting them into the reply. In addition, you don't always need to quote people. If you feel you need to address individuals, you can use the @ and their username to tag them, as I've done here.

Yes, using it as an event can work, but it does help to understand how the tilesheets work. In this case, you would have wanted to put the wall and floor tiles in A5 and the objects into the B-E sheets. This would allow the objects to be allowed to be placed over non-autotiles.

I was thinking that when you start the battle for it to appear the eyes of your characters and opponents sorta like Ace Attorney.
