Hello, I'm new to RPG Maker and this site and I'm looking for some help. I'm using RPG Maker VX Ace with Yanfly Visual Battlers. I'm trying to create an enemy that will inch closer to the player every turn, and if it reaches the player it will cause a game over. Is there a way to event this? Is there a pre existing script I could use? I would prefer eventing, but I'd appreciate any help.

'Game Mechanics Design' is for looking at aspects of game play at a more conceptual level. "How do I...?" (implementation) questions belong in the Support forum for the engine you are using.

Only by script.
In case of Ace, search for "Battle Engine Symphonia" (i hope i spelled that right), it is compatible to yanfly's scripts and providers action sequence.

I had been using this before but swapped to visual battlers because I didn't like it as much and couldn't figure out all the features. If this is the right script, I'm not opposed to swapping back, to but how I accomplish the advancing enemies? Sorry, I know almost nothing about scripting for myself.

There should be a manual for that script around, and you need that - exactly because this isn't easy.

An action sequence is programmed by notetags on the skill and then executed by syphony whenever that skill is used. If a skill has no action sequence, it will go to a default sequence.
That manual lists what commands are available for those notetags.

Unfortunately I can't tell you more because I never used that script myself.

Malak is still waiting for Dark Deception Chapter 4... This was him yesterday after another sugar crash.
Again, he's fine. He's just bored at this point, considering he's exhausted his entire vacation bucket list.
Am I the only one who files custom resources under specific folders to remember who to credit? :kaoswt2:
