How do I make different characters use different fonts/text boxes?

So, having one font used for everything in your game is the standard in MV, but I was tossing around the idea of every character's text being in it's own font. Is there a way to program this without using plugins, or would I need one to do it?


On a related note, I was wanting to have a portion of a character's face in their text box, so is can I do the same thing for textboxes as I can font?

Both options will require plugins, but both are fairly common requests for messaging system plugins - if the correct plugins are installed, they give you additional textcodes to modify the texts of show text.

One plugin that does that would be Yanfly's Message Core. If you end up using the same textcodes for each actor and don't want to type them out each time, you can also have a look at Message Macros to shorten them - e.g. instead of writing the text codes to change the font to Arial and show Actor 1's face graphic, you can just type \m[Harold] or whatever name you assign to those text codes.
