I'm trying to alter the step count box to instead display how many of the game's main collectible you have, represented by a variable in the game. How do I do this?

I'm not sure if you just want someone to point you in the right direction, or if you want someone to write a script for you.

In the Window_Steps script, you will see this line:
Code:
    self.contents.draw_text(4, 32, 120, 32, $game_party.steps.to_s, 2)

Just replace $game_party.steps.to_s with $game_variables[x].to_s, replacing x with the variable id you want to use. So if you're keeping the count in variable 18, it'll be $game_variables[18].to_s
