Anyone here played any of Behtesda's Fallout, or The Elder Scrolls games? And with mods? Then you know what I'm talking about, having your own house, or secret hideout is really fun, especially when there's lots of fun things we can do in them.
Tell me, how do you make hideouts in your games fun?
I do it by:
- When first bought, the hideout is typically in a bad shape, and you must find people who will renovate it for a price, or by doing quests for them.
- Pretty much every object is interactive. There's either funny, short comment, or a small scene relating to that object, and of course finding useful (or not) items. (I do all objects interactive in my games, but I put extra focus on the ones in my safehouses)
- Trophies. After we complete a Story Quest, or some kind of Side Quest, we'll get fun new objects to our house, again they have fun short comment, or a small scene. Small example: After I join the local militia, I will have their uniform, or armor on display.
Things I avoid:
- Free sleeping, unless a certain pricey upgrade is bought. I always thought that paying 5 gold in Inns was overpowered, same goes for resting our whole party for free. That's why I make sleeping and restoring the whole party in our beds only after buying a fairly expensive upgrade.
