How do you stop the player from moving?

I'm trying to make a cut sceen where the player is sleeping then woken up.

But every time, the player can move during the script.

I would upload the event, but I don't know how to.

Also, one of my Guards won't move...

I have him set up exactly the same as another moving charecter,

and I checked to see if the tiles were stoping him, they weren't.

It sounds like you might be using a parallel process event to trigger your cut scene.  But that is just a guess.

If you set your event trigger to Auto Run it should prevent the player from moving during the cut scene.

But if for some reason you cannot use Auto Run for this, one solution would be to move an impassible event onto the player during the cut scene.

That worked, but the guard wont move still....

I am not sure how you are going about this exactly, but on page 2 of your event commands you should be able to use the Set Move Route... under Movement to select the guard and then move him around as you wish during the cut scene.

If that doesn't work I am guessing you chose to stick with using a parallel process trigger for you cut scene event. 

If that's the cause you can add a page to your guard event and then set the page trigger to Parallel Process as well.   Then condition the page with a switch of your choice and add the desired move route into the event page (you would select This Event as the object of your move route).  Then you can turn that switch on when ever you want the guard to move during your Parallel Process cut scene event.

I have the main event on automatic, but i only have one page...



Is there an easier way then posting on Imigur?

You can hit the More Reply Options at the bottom and that should let you attach files to your posts.  I'm not sure what Imigur is though so I am not sure if that's easier or not.

And the extra page on your guard event is only needed if you are using a parallel process trigger for your cut scene.  And from the looks of it you are using an Auto Run trigger so I wouldn't worry about that part of my post. 

As far as your event, try setting your messenger's first move route to Wait for Completion and see if he moves then.  Though I think what might be happening is your move routes are conflicting.

a tip to check:

If a move route goes to a blocked position, the event will stop in front of it and wait until that command can be executed.

So you should check where the event starts and what the move route contains.

Events are not only blocked by impassible tiles, but also by other events - if several events move away from their starting positions, you need to check that their new positions don't block other event movement.

All of your events are set to autorun. There should only be one autorun event at a time. Your messenger events don't even have any event commands, so they don't need to be set to autorun anyway. And your event that IS set to autorun should turn on a self switch at the end and have another page conditioned by the self switch, otherwise it'll keep looping (it will probably try and make one of the characters start moving again, and if they're at a point where they can't move, the whole thing will just freeze).


If you want several events and the player to exit a room one after the other, you need to change the graphic to none at the end of the move route so it disappears (as if it's walked out of the door), and then set it to Through ON in the move route - otherwise they'll all line up one after the other and not be able to walk forward because the previous event is still there. Even though it's got no graphic, doesn't mean it's not there.


You should do some research on switches and self switches, and how to use them with events to stop them doing the same thing over and over.

Thank you everyone for your help. But I figured it out. First I'm and idiot... Second I had the guard moving left when he should have gone right...
